"Just a guess," "I suspect," "probably" and "could be" don't require a source. I'm basing this on stuff we've all read on this forum.

Get the other 64,999 lined up, then give me a call. I guess I'll have no choice at that point but to raid the piggy bank, painful though it may be.

he just walked away from one NIL deal which probably gives him some leverage. The negotiations could be too complicated to expect an announcement this soon
The last couple of sentences you wrote seemed a little more concrete …

    So, WAG ;)

$2, huh? Inflation is worse than I thought. Back in the day it was 2 cents.

There's two things that occur to me, neither one of which is known to be a fact. First, putting a bag together for Johnson prior to being enrolled probably has nothing to do with it, or at least I hope not. I just don't see BN or the administration going rogue now and making a mockery of everything that he and the school have said and done concerning the values and integrity of the University - at least to this point. Secondly, as much as top DB recruits want to play for CR, Johnson is an Alpha and may want to think a bit about whether he really wants to play second banana in a class that may well include the best CB in the country. A third possibility is that he's a thoughtful and serious kid who needs to consider his options a bit more before making, and then possibly breaking, another commitment. If he winds up at scUM, it was the money. If it is us or another school that isn't buying players, we know cash was not the driving force. Stay tuned.

You miss one thing. It's not BN or the school putting a bag together. It would be the 3rd party collective negotiating with the player. The school wou be " uninvolved".

Or maybe he just wants to sit down with someone and make a Gentlemans agreement for future money and look somebody in the eye.

If I'm not mistaken, state law does not permit any cash advances or "contracts" of any kind, by anyone, prior to enrollment. Period. UF has made it crystal clear there will be no nefarious stuff going on in Gainesville and, to this point at least, that appears to be the case. If someone can shed further light on those "assumptions," please do.

I'm not disagreeing with you. Just saying that what happens between the players, their agents and the collective is mostly out of the hands of the university. I do believe they have some say if there is a conflict of interest.

I would be shocked! Shocked I tell you!...if there weren't some sort of discussion/explanation of potential financial arrangements - consistent with state law, NCAA guidelines (I know, I know) and institutional philosophy pertaining to NIL. But that is not the same thing as the blatant idiocy going on in Coral Gables, or the suggestion that was made that we had perhaps joined the "game" and were willing to enter into a bidding war for a recruit's services. JMHO.

I just got a good laugh, I’m shocked also. Yes, cheating has to be done properly. There can be no paperwork until the kids on campus dammit. The bidding part I am against just because I’m against it. Make a fair offer and take it or leave it. I also think it’s a good strategy to load up on 9.1 or 9.2 average players at a lower price

Assurances that there will be appropriate remuneration (within the context of state law and institutional policy), once the recruit enrolls, is probably a slam dunk. As it should be.
