Time for us to turn the page and kiss and make up with Urbs. As eloquently stated above, holding out on Urbs makes us look petty (and not Petty in the good sense). He has his regrets for how he handled his demise and we were pretty hostile toward him as he left as well. Hell, even our beloved Steve Spurrier has regrets on how he left us.

It’s 15 years in our rear view mirror now — nothing to lose and everything to gain by embracing our former embattled coach and together celebrating the amazing accomplishments of his tenure here. Without Urban Meyer we’d be missing two crystal balls in the Heavener complex, and we also would never have been able to be the only university to ever claim national championships in both football and basketball at the same time.

Regrettable that it is even borderline for me. Seems personal character does play a part in the criteria for inclusion, if I’m remembering correctly? The thing is, we’re never supposed to allow for the potential of personal self-reflection or growth?
Urban Meyer will forever be linked to the legacy of Florida Gators Football. And I think the perspective from outside our own fan base is, overwhelmingly, positive in that association. That, to me, is the reason he should be honored. It does seem petty and self-important not to.

 

If memory serves me correctly, Foley offered him the money to stay. Not Foley being conned. If it hadn't been for Urban, the Associated Press's all time All American QB would've played at Bama. He should be on the wall just for that alone.
