As the dog days of summer roll on, Americans are facing sticker shock over the cost of keeping cool.

Electricity prices have climbed twice as fast as the overall cost of living in the last year, according to a recent Consumer Price Index report.

According to the National Energy Assistance Directors Association, the average household power bill is expected to jump to nearly $800 from June to September — marking a 12-year record and a 6% increase from last year’s average.

Electricity costs rising twice as fast as inflation for US customers

Obviously Trump lied about reducing prices as we are going in the wrong direction. Why did he lie?

“Under my administration, we will be slashing energy and electricity prices by half within 12 months, at a maximum 18 months" - Trump

Mine has increased, but that may be because my system is 25 years old and I'm trying to milk every month out of it before having to drop 20k on a new system!

I don't recall if you live in Florida, but if you do the FP&L have been donating money like crazy to the GOP to get their way. The goal is to increase the bills of solar panel homes reducing the credit those homes receive when they feed power back into the grid. DeSantis vetoed it the first time but it's not going away

I know my power bill has gone up dramatically since 2015 and that is with insulated impact rated windows and a good A/C system.

Electricity bills are going to continue to climb.
AI and cryptocurrency require lots of power. Lets keep government and businesses in check when they give power subsidies. But you know us common folk are going to be paying the piper.
