This whole line of silliness started with a Dem posters post that "I doubt most MAGAs even 'know' where Ukraine is on a map". My post was to let him know that the same would be more likely for Dems simply because Dems are younger and less likely to know how the USSR was split up.

This is based on the idea that a group of 18-35 year olds would have zero knowledge of the breakup of one of only three international superpowers that control a massive number of nuclear weapons. Could be.... I did not have that definitive answer and why I put the ? mark on my comment.

I wouldn't brag too much--most democrats are better educated than most republicans. Sometimes, education can make up for a lack of age. And I would also say that most democrats are more traveled and more knowledgeable about things in other countries than most republicans. There is a reason that the TV character Archie Bunker was created in the 1970's to represent the ignorance of the average republican.

More winning! Trump, the "peace president", is ready to start a war with Mexico. Just don't call it a war. It's just going to be a small invasion force with heavy weapons. You know, good times. Trump has shown he is unable and unwilling to work with U.S. mayors to improve security in places like D.C., so why shouldn't he have the same attitude towards other countries?

It's part of Trump's agenda to Make America Great Again. Back when America was Great in 1916 to be specific Woodrow Wilson sent US troops led by Gen. Pershing into to Mexico to pursue Pancho Villa. Apparently Trump is considering a repeat.

If it worked once, it should work again, eh? Who will be the bad guy? Nacho Spilla? Choco Vanilla? Nutso Killa? And will Don "Quixote" Trump be diverted from his war on fentanyl to fight a few windmills? Endo Windmilla?

People are starting to use an eight-letter word starting with "D" to describe Trump and his attempts to rearrange the Smithsonian collection. Let's see, dipsh!t is only seven letters, so that can't be it. And while "d!ckhead" is eight letters, I don't think would be it, either (that's probably his normal nickname that people refer to him after meeting him for the first time). They say that he has this nickname in common with a German leader from the 1930's. Hmmm, it's a puzzle.

Trump basically gives China a green light to invade Taiwan, as long as they do it after he leaves office. Once again, Trump's ego trumps his morality, assuming he has any morality in the first place. Perfect opportunity for Trump to tell Xi that invasion of Taiwan at any time is unacceptable, yet he does not do that. Trump would probably like to see China invade Taiwan the day after he leaves office, especially if a democrat (or a republican not selected by him) wins the election.

Every other American president in history has been "America First" until we got a president who was "Trump First, America Second".

The US is already making plans for an invasion. All this statement does is delay things giving the US more time to prepare.

What if that's not enough time? What if China uses that time to prepare even more for the invasion? Why would you not want to make it clear what your country considers right versus wrong, or acceptable behavior vs. unacceptable? Instead of "invasions are acceptable, just not on my watch". There are other countries with armies paying attention to all this.

Biden at least had the courage to make it clear to China that the U.S. would intervene militarily if Taiwan were invaded.

More winning: another indication that Trump and his Fox News assistants are not good with math. Trump has been saying that tariffs will pay off the national debt. It turns out that tariffs on current imports will not quite pay off the interest on the national debt. You have to pay off more than the interest on a debt to pay off the debt itself. And, of course, the thing about tariffs is that they are designed to reduce imports and persuade domestic manufacturers to produce things we want. If they are successful at reducing imports (which is doubtful that they last long enough to do that, before the economy goes into recession), then there will be less income from tariffs. Either way, it is a tax on poor people and the middle class, who have to pay a much larger percentage of their income on tariff-based price hikes than the wealthy.

Trump's current rates of tariffs are taking in just less than $30 billion a month. Interest on Treasury notes is currently $38 billion a month. Add in the other interest that the federal government pays, and it is $61 billion a month. Double the tariffs and you could theoretically pay off the interest on the debt, but would likely initiate a recession. Triple the tariffs, and you could theoretically pay down the debt over the next 108 years, but stagflation and/or a major financial depression would be all but guaranteed, thus crippling the economy and eliminating most of the gov't revenues.

Trump says tariffs are going to be enough to pay down national debt. It likely won't even touch the sides

More winning. Trump's poll numbers just keep getting worse. And his poll numbers are falling with every group, other than the clinically insane. Trump supporters' approval ratings dropped from 95% earlier in the year to 85% now. He's also losing ground with republicans who do not identify strongly with the party, and independents who normally lean towards republican principles.

Trump continues to be the most unpopular president in the history of the United States at this stage of his term.

Trump approval rating takes another hit in latest poll

More indications of Trump's math skills on display: his Social Security tax cuts could drive the program to be insolvent in seven years (2032). When the trust fund runs dry, all recipients take a 25% cut in their benefits. The trust fund was scheduled to run dry in 2034 if no one did anything, or 2032 if a mentally-deficient president eliminated taxes on Social Security earnings for higher-income recipients.

Trump is getting his ass handed to him by some place called Penn Wharton--I wonder if it is the same Penn Wharton that regrets letting him buy an economics degree from them, and has a professor that says that Trump was the dumbest student he ever had?

Trump's Social Security tax cuts could hit future generations hard and propel the program's insolvency by 2032, research warns

Trump's White House wanders a little closer to fascism and government control of the economy, as it releases a scorecard of companies rated according to their loyalty to Trump. I don't believe any White House has ever required loyalty from companies to the president. Why is Trump wasting taxpayer money compiling such stupid and useless information? Where is DOGE when you need them? Whatever happened to freedom of speech? Why are we turning into China?
