Alternative to Ytube TV?

Is a VPN necessary or will a subscription be required without the use of a VPN?

Ive had Hulu+ Live and its worked for me. $100 bundled with Disney + and ESPN+. However, Disney is getting rid of Hulu and completely enveloping it into the Disney + with the Hulu Live part moving to to Fubo next year. Disney also owns Fubo..aint that nice..so, not sure how the entire bundle thing will work come next year.

 

I was on DirecTV for over 20 years until it got way too expensive. Got a 2 year deal with Dish and then it went price crazy and went to You Tube TV. I watch mostly the college games, so could probably find something cheaper but my wife loves watching the Dolphins so for now it is YouTubeTV.

 

We had DISH for over 20 years and it just got too expensive, plus more and more channels taken off air (including locals and network channels) because of contract disputes. Also, being in Florida every time a decent storm came around we lost the satellite. Switched to YouTube TV 3 years ago, with ROKU boxes on our smart TV's and I'm perfectly satisfied. With YTTV, as long as we have electricity & WiFI, we have TV. The only issue I have is no ESPN+ and I refuse to pay Disney the extra money it would cost to get it. Just a personal choice. We, also, have Prime & Netflix, which our son gives us as an annual Christmas gift.

 

I e got an old samsung 55" plasma that still works great in my br. Its only 1080 but its still close to my 65" 4k thats in the lr. It must be 10-15 years old

 

Same here with my 55" plasma, it's my go-to for sports: better clarity with all of the motion, better contrast & better viewing angles.

 

Its been a horse for sure. Good bit heavier.

Just saw a commercial for Sling day passes.
It's 4.99 a day and it comes with ESPN, ESPN 2, and ESPN 3.
Guess if you just want college football that might help.

 

I have the almost exact situation except that I have a 50" 720p Panasonic Plasma TV that I bought in 2008. It still has a fantastic picture and with a firestick works just like a smart TV.

 

Just curious, how do you watch that app on your tv?

 

I bet that plasma heats up the bedroom nicely in the winter.

 

I just cast it from my MacBook. Most streaming sticks/smart TVs allow screen sharing from your laptop or phone.

Some have built in web browsers (Fire sticks have Amazon's Silk Browser built in.)

 

Ok, thanks. I have a FireStick and will try Silk. I've casted in the past, but it always seemed it was not the highest quality. Also, I sideloaded an app called CinemaHD to my FS a few years ago and was able to watch any and all movies for free, but that app is not supported anymore, sadly.

 

Screen sharing may be different than casting on some devices. (They are technically not the same ) When you screen share you just make your TV a 2nd screen. On mine it is just as fast as my laptop screen.

I am sure a lot of factors contribute and we all can get a different response.

 

Im in a basement so its cool in the summer ad toasty in the winter. No thermostat down there
