Yea, there’s absolutely zero chance that by putting national guard in a low crime area, rhymes could free up some of the police that would normal be there and divert them to a high crime area

I’m waiting for the Dispatch Friday podacast to post to YouTube but it has the views of two long time DC residents on there in Jonah Golberg and Meghan McArdle about what is going on in DC in terms of crime.

They both says that its a serious issue and that probably the biggest issue is that it is no longer confined to Southeast anymore.

West Virginia is about to join the party.

"West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey (R) is deploying between 300 to 400 of his state’s National Guard troops to Washington to aid in President Donald Trump’s takeover of D.C. policing, with military officials expecting other states to follow suit."

“West Virginia is proud to stand with President Trump in his effort to restore pride and beauty to our nation’s capital,” Morrisey wrote in a statement on Saturday. “The men and women of our National Guard represent the best of our state, and this mission reflects our shared commitment to a strong and secure America.”

Apparently Gov. Morrisey is trying to ingratiate himself with Trump. If he was really serious about helping address the crime situation in DC he would have committed state police not National Guard troops.

Anyone that wants to have a serious conversation about this, you need to watch this video from about 13:45 to 23:00 mark. It is the best 10 minutes on this topic I've seen. Megan McArdle gives a very good explanation of what is actually happening and why this is a bad idea and what the Trump Admin could actually do to make things better. She has lived in DC since the early '90's.

Jonah Goldberg also gives a good description before Megan but I'm in 99% agreement with Megan. The only thing I think they leave out is Travyon White being re-elected to the DC City Council.

Her take is pretty reasonable. Her take on data that is tough to massage is also dead on. You can put a lot of barriers up on burglaries, bike thefts, etc, by stopping to dispatch based on loss and requiring self reporting via mail or online. With most auto theft, that doesn’t work because insurance. Car jacking, you have a robbery and insurance;) Murder, damn bodies. Better call HRC ;)

Even Cali is figuring out that the homeless stuff has gone to far to continue. Almost like immigration.

There's some talk that the Guard will soon be carrying weapons. So far, they have not.

If you flash your lights to warn another motorist about a speed trap you are committing the same ‘crime’ lol

‘Doxx’ has lost all meaning when you are using it to talk about government operations in public lol. Basically admitting they are secret police?

    Precisely.

It is basically neighborhood watch, except now you are having to use Telegram to both alert and hide, because the assailants are who you used to call.

A 15 year-old girl and her Soundstream partner beating “Big Balls” down? Oh yeah, them too, after the crazier shit!

During Newsom’s speech or whatever that was the other day, the federal govt sent like 30-40 agents outside the venue clearly as some intimidation tactic.

They tried to claim it was a targeted operation. One problem with this lie, their 1 arrest was a strawberry vendor who just happened to park there. So… 30+ federal agents to take down some poor sap selling strawberries? Did none of those agents have real cases to investigate? Nothing better to do than be called up on a political stunt? The “cost of arresting 1 man” sounds like something that department of government efficiency may want to take a look at. :emoji_joy:

Nah, the Pubs are in control now and the Dems can't do a freaking thing about it. I LOVE THAT FACT.
