It is kind of a weird statement, but it is true…unless you deny basic fundamental human biology.

I think there are a lot of assumptions and projections being read in between the lines that are not necessarily there by many people in this thread.

duh, obviously he meant more than that. It was the opening theme for his following response on women’s place.

“projections” aren’t needed. Just listen to their leadership. Their goal is Christian nationalism. They also want diminished rights for women as US citizens and expect their subjugation to their husbands.

Technically people come out of the man into the woman and then out of woman after 9 months. I was told life begins at conception after all ... be consistent to your ideology! :)

Scary stuff. If you watch the documentary "Bad Faith" you'll see what they are trying to do to this country. There is even one scene where church leaders are on stage yelling "We are the christian taliban!"

How I wish I could take your sage advice, and just chill the heck out. Unfortunately, Trump & Co. have actually done so many things that anger/repel/terrify me, I'm on an emotional hair trigger. As is right and proper, given Trump's actions and statements. Some of his bloviations are just hot air, sure (Canada as #51, for instance) but many more are happening as fast as he can steamroll Congress, the Judiciary, and anyone who gets in his way.

There is a reason you are invoking the Taliban here. It is because this is about projection. If it wasn’t about projection, then there would be no need to bring the Taliban into this discussion in the first place.

This is classic leftist alarmism. This is the same stuff “Trump is Hitler” was made out of.

How much of a leap from “women shouldn’t vote” to “women shouldn’t go to school” or “women should stay in the home”?

Obviously it’s a very high threshold to pass (or repeal) a constitutional amendment, but at this point I think it’s clear these people are actively hostile to our constitution as it stands.

It has not gotten as much attention as women voting, but Wilson also wants to re-criminalize homosexual sex and reportedly believes that same-sex marriage is a "far more serious" problem for Christians than supporting slavery. Maybe they support criminal punishment for straight people who commit sexual sins, too, but I never seem to hear about them calling for that.

A better comparison would simply be to wind the clock back in our nation’s history and find former Presidents from the first two centuries of our country who shared some of these views. There are plenty of people who were not fanatical terrorists and Islamic theocrats who opposed things like women’s suffrage, same-sex marriage, etc. John Adams did not believe in women’s suffrage. I doubt he believed that same sex relations should be legal either. Is John Adams worthy of being compared to the Taliban? I think not. These people believe in American values like free speech, freedom of religion, etc, but they hold differing views on gender roles, sexuality, marriage, who should vote, etc. And they want US citizens to peacefully participate in our governmental system and vote a certain way because they agree with their point of view on these things.

There might be differing political opinions and differing worldviews here, but these people are not advocating government overthrow and revolution like the Taliban did in Afghanistan. The Taliban comparison reflects a desire to find the most extreme comparison possible rather than find a more reasonable comparison.

We could find plenty of former presidents and politicians who owned slaves. We'd throw them in jail now.

Certainly, but how do you know your culture at this moment in time is the standard by which their culture should be measured and not vice versa?

Their culture allowed slavery and did not allow women to vote. That's how I know.

Ahhh, bad faith moral relativism in pursuit of things that you want to be considered moral that are no longer considered moral.

Here is one way we know it: you are referring to this as a political difference between people who "want US citizens to peacefully participate in our governmental system" when the goal for one group of people here is to make sure that slightly over 1/2 of US citizens do not get to peacefully participate in our governmental system in its most basic function.

As a man, I am for women being subjugated.

As More Man that every other man on this thread, I am also for all you Lesser Men being subjugated.

All pronoun announcers have already been dealt with.

I’ll take it from here. Stand down and stand by.
