Interesting. Already happening at some stadiums. UF is the first college. University of Florida Becomes First College to Launch Facial Authentication Express Entry for Fans - Florida Gators
How does this work with re-purposed tickets? And who is taking the pictures? Maybe this is just a way of keeping the Great Unwashed away from the stadium.
It is voluntary. Fan takes a selfie and submits it associated with their purchased ticket. Then the fan walks in using their face as the ticket (authentication). I'm guessing you might also have a ticket on your phone as backup in case the recognition fails. If you sell the ticket to another they would have to use that electronic ticket (or if system is elaborate enough, go online and transfer the facial recognition authentication to the new ticket holder). I remember keeping game ticket stubs....
Wish they had gone with CLEAR instead. Most major US airports use CLEAR and more and more arenas and stadiums are adding it.
I wish you could get an old school paper ticket, like once you're in the stadium take you electronic ticket to a kiosk and have it printed out for a souvenir. I use to collect all the stubs and had them displayed under glass on a coffee table. It was cool seeing the ticket art and logos change from year to year. I haven't seen the old printed scorecards after the game in years either.
I have our ticket stubs from the 2006 Tennessee game and the SECCG and you're right - they are great mementos of the occasions!
I have a million stubs. I did recently stumble across a site that will reproduce your digital ticket into and authentic paper ticket to keep. Stubforge.com - Design Custom Ticket Stubs
Pretty long but informative article on the different systems and who is using them. I did not know the difference between facial authentication, which is what most of these are, and facial recognition (e.g. policing type) systems. I put recognition in the title but mostly these are authentication. Perhaps I should edit the title. What if a woman inputs facial recognition at 32 years old then at 42 she looks totally different (see some women you know). Would they then go to a secondary recognition method like what ? I have saved ticket stubs to great games going back to the 1960s, have them in a big glass bowl. Too bad those days are over. Which then takes me to my passport (gosh I'm wandering around on this thread). When I went into Italy for the first time I handed over my grandfather's 1913 passport. That got quite a reaction.
They still wan They still want you to keep the ticket in your digital wallet so that everyone will know and be able to prove where their seats are located once they get inside. I remember keeping big-game ticket stubs, as well. I also remember getting into the stadium with a Lincoln Pass (a $5 bill greasing the student ticket-taker's hand.)
im a packers season ticket holder. While they went to mobile tickets only for game entry, they now send out the old paper tickets as souvenirs each season. They can’t be used to enter the stadium but they can be kept as mementos. This was done due to people wanting the stubs like you mention.
When I watched the NFL I was a Bears fan for thirty or so years but credit where credit is due, that’s a great idea.
I have a zillion cool concert ticket stubs in a box, meaning to display them somehow someday. But that ship has sailed, too.
Easy to sign up for, but not sure how it works with multiple tickets. Worth a shot if you can avoid the awful lines for the big games.
