That doesnt seem like alot seeing as how they waived basically any qualification. I mean, they told 59 year old Dean Cain he could sign up.

The signing bonus is ridiculous, and a waste of money. Do firefighters get signing bonuses? Police? Seems more like a bribe.

 

True, but think of the bright side. The cost will be offset by tariffs from importation of robots to take the jobs being shuffled across the border.

Of course regular law enforcement officers will be willing to be cannibalized by ICE, and not just for the sign up bonus.

Trump has already said that ICE won't be going after farm or hospitality workers- before long they'll have no targets whatsoever.

So they'll just be sitting around or driving their govt vehicles, waiting for Trump to direct them on their pending election thuggery. Easy peasy.

 

Local cops are typically pretty low paid and low barrier to entry, while historically federal law enforcement required military or college degree to be a federal agent.

If you drop the standards to rock bottom, and give them a full years salary signing bonus, what do you think is going to happen lol? A bunch of rural cops are suddenly going to want to be “feds”.

 

I mean there literally is not one other job that will give you $50K as a bonus and requires no qualifications. 200K “applicants” seems pretty modest.

It is a certainty that soon there will be a string of atrocities from ICE. They are essentially having to scrape the gunk off of the barrel bottom scraper, rushing otherwise unhireable people through what is surely half-assed training, sending them to political hot spots to execute a mission they can’t articulate, against people who the populace supports. Give them disguises and military weaponry, arbitrary quotas and demands, teach them to actively disregard Constitutional rights, and behold what the screechers have always meant by Law & Order.

 

Yeah, when you figure the first wave of applicants is the desperate, the ideologically motivated (but otherwise unemployable) and the most bloodthirsty of racists looking to brutalize women and children, and you could only lure 100k or so ...
