Yeah. That's goofy stuff. Ironically, Bryan is who I thought of when listening to Moreland. My youngest daughter (19) thinks Bryan created music lol. She just loves him. And now my son (14) had him on his playlist in the car the other day. Guy definably resonates with a broad audience. My oldest daughter turned me towards Childers when she first went to App State 4 years ago. I was like, the kids dig this? Maybe there is hope for music after all if (regardless of personal likes) music like this is alive and flourishing with my kids gen.
What's so great about him, is he just plays what he loves. It's so old school, but he doesn't care. He loves it and it shows. It's amazing how you age into "getting" music and Crockett is a guy you have to "get". Authentic and pure. Big fan.
Side note. Just noticed the duet that Bryan kicked Moreland off of and recorded is still on Moreland''s "This is John Moreland" playlist on Spotify even with JR Carroll as the replacement.
Not the Big Fellas first kerfuffle. What I find most amusing about this 1 is that John M goes after the other guy's body type. Bold strategy. UPDATED: John Moreland and Turnpike Troubadours’ Kyle Nix Tussle... Hey guys, little Texas country fun fact. If you ever happen to get in a fight with Kyle Nix, the tiny fiddle player from the Turnpike Troubadours…uh, and he pulls you out of your bar stool and starts kicking you in the head a few times… Don’t worry because he’s four feet tall, and it’s just going to feel like a fu–ing third-grader is kicking you in the head. And then you can get up and start wailing on his face, and it’s all good. Fu-k that guy.”
@tilly his songs are relatable and endless. Not to mention he mentored the creator of one of the greatest bands of all time. The Eagles. You are wrong sir.
Yeah, the older I get, the deader my music tastes. Speaking of which... The Grateful Dead--older I get, the better they sound. Don't pretend to be a dead head, but... that's good stuff right there. Actually, Jerry Garcia's non-dead stuff even better than his work with the dead (e.g.--Legion of Mary, and of course his solo stuff...).
James Taylor is overrated. Actually sucks out loud. Seger has earned his love, and gets more blowback than he deserves. He's just not played enough, for the blowback he gets--especially on TH--where cheesy boy bands are adored shamelessly by (supposed) men, but a man who sings manly, is somehow radioactive.
Hear hear! (...and add to that, some overlap and mutual respect bt he and Tom Petty and the HB's...).
I like Seger, but his songs are lacking the creativity and craftsmanship of many of his contemporaries. He is good, but not legendary like he is some times painted. That is what I mean by overrated.
The Seger thing is just a joke to get people's panties in a wad. He's fine and I have some of his stuff in a couple playlists. I just think he lacks the uniqueness. Petty and crew, while mutual admirers of Seger, are a million times more creative in my opinion.
