LOL - Trump tells his supporters that he was just lying to them all along.

So I guess all these illegal farm workers will be allowed to stay. I wonder why they allocated approximately an extra $130 billion for ICE in Trump's Deficit-Funded Tax Cut Bill? Also, I wonder what the math is on however many illegal immigrants he actually will deport?

Let's say he gets 2 million illegal immigrants out - although even that seems like a very high estimate. What's $130 billion divided by 2 million? That would be a cost of $65,000 per illegal immigrant removed. LOLOLOL. Where's DOGE when we need them? :)

How's it feel to be lied to, Trumpers?

Trump teases new policy for migrant farm labor
Officials are debating how to placate farmers’ need for migrant labor without appearing to offer amnesty to undocumented immigrants.

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that his administration will release new rules and regulations on migrant farm labor, as the country’s need for workers and the food they help produce clashes with his vow to deport undocumented immigrants.

Trump said that his administration will continue to deport criminals but that he wants to “work with” farmers to find a solution for their workers, oftentimes immigrants who have lived in the country illegally for decades and are paying taxes. He suggested the White House was working on a touchback program for some workers, requiring them to leave the U.S. and reenter through a legal pathway .....

“In some cases, we’re sending them back to their country with a pass back in legally … We’re sending them back, and then they’re schooling, they’re learning, they’re coming in, they’re coming in legally. We have a lot of that going on, but we’re taking care of our farmers,” Trump said in an interview with CNBC. “We can’t let our farmers not have anybody.”

That sounds like a migrant labor program, which is a norm in many countries. I have no objection as long as it’s done by law (not imperial fiat) and the rules are made clear to all, employer and employee alike.

IMO, we should be exploring these types of “farms” for manufacturing, as well. If we want to be price competitive, it is the only viable, long-term solution

A guest worker program should be industry agnostic. Adopt a Canadian style system. If the employer can show difficulty in hiring enough citizen born labor, then allow them to open up the jobs to immigrants.

According to Bill they all have to go. Wonder how he's going to rationalize this.

One of the issues with this is the bell has been rung. I've heard stories of large groups of laborers in FL for roofing companies not showing up one day and all going back to their home countries as was the goal. It's not like people are just sitting around doing nothing and are ready to go back to work. Nor are they going to come back under the current regime

I think that’s one of his objectives. Scare the hell out of immigrants by sending them to other countries and lockup facilities like Alligator Alcatraz, deporting every one who is illegal and some that are legal, then removing medical benefits starting in 2026.

Would you come here or stay here under those conditions? I’m surprised anyone at all tries to cross the southern border.

I agree. It's just fun that Trump chose to tell so many racist lies about illegal immigration, and his followers got so on board with it ....... when we all knew all along that nearly every one of the illegal immigrants in our country would stay.

It's too bad that, for appearances sake, he needs to throw so much money away on this - something like an increase of $130B for ICE in his deficit-spending bill?

But it's also pretty dubious that he'll have the legislative support or initiative to address this long-term - his base would not be happy. Although they did readily get on board with him helping out a convicted child sex trafficker.
