Called by many the greatest comeback ever—24 years ago the Cleveland INDIANS trailed in this game twice by 12 runs…..
    And still won the game!

What was the score and who did they beat?

Correct! Spelling aside, it was Chan Ho Park. It's been 26 years and no pitcher has matched that feat! LOL

I have no recollection of the "feat" but I am guessing the game was already out of hand and whoever was the manager didn't want to waste a bullpen pitcher.

1927 Yankees might have something to say about that.

Even being a fan of the mid-70’s Reds teams I think it’s practically impossible to put that crown on a single team.

There are so many great teams that have had spectacular runs to try to say singularly “the best” is argumentative at the least.

The Reds, Yankees, A’s, Giants, Dodgers, Cardinals, Blue Jays, Astros and I’m sure others have all had their times in that bright spotlight.

This debate could go on into infinity.

Great read on Reds team. Only Yogi was better than Bench. Go compare all stats including strike outs, batting average, etc. Bench was great, but the little round humorous Yogi was better. He has always been under appreciated due to his looks, stature (round), quotes and personality. And Yogi Bear cartoons.

The 27 and 61 Yanks were also great. I recall the 61 Yanks had 3 catchers of All Star quality, Yogi, Elston Howard and John Blanchard.

    2001 Mariners won 116 games.

Didn't make the World Series but an AWESOME team.

Here I will have to disagree. Yogi was fantastic. But he didn't have the arm of Bench. If you read Ball Four Bouton complained that Yogi would always call for fastballs in a steal situation because that gave him a chance to throw out the runner. Bench had a cannon even from the crouch.

I would take Bench over Yogi all day but would be very happy to have either one.

I don't remember the final score but IIRC they beat the team with the best modern era number of wins in 2001.
