Who? Also, is this just more fake news that you cut and paste onto this forum without checking? Will this tweet be deleted like so many of the other ones you post?
For a country that extols the virtue of free speech, you don't half seem to have a lot of stories trying to silence one another...
Woke morning show? Ha ha! Show is dull and stale and more centric than left, but MAGA knows nothing about the middle. Plus CBS/Paramount is no longer in the news business anymore choosing to become American Pravda. When we had free markets, changes would have been made because the public “voted” in the form of ratings. That would have been the impetus for changing the show.
We have always tried to silence each other. The freedom of speech just means the government can't do it. The rest of us can censor, cancel and edit away.
I don't watch a lot of morning news but it's usually the Today Show only because it's on right after my local news I watch. They all seem to run the same stories. I do like the CBS Sunday Morning show though. Try to catch that every week.
This likely has less to do with Trump and more to do with the new owners of CBS, Larry and David Ellison, who own SkyDance. They are both big supporters of Israel and this CBS morning show had a very big blow up around this time last year over Israel. The show had Ta‑Nehisi Coates on and Tony Dokoupil challenged Coats on his take on Israeli in his book, The Message. It became a whole thing about Tony being unprofessional in the interview since he pushed back pretty hard against Coates. A bunch of CBS News Execs came down hard on Tony, which prompted Shari Redstone, own of CBS to come in and back Tony. During the follow up to the brouhaha, it turned out that King had shared her questions with Coates ahead of time and did so knowing that his book has been portrayed as very anti-Israel, and some say anti-Semitic. Probably not a smart thing to do.
Private enterprise. The constitution actually just says that Congress can't pass any law infringing on speech. Freedom of speech when it is actually realized at its full level allows a private enterprise to censor. Otherwise their right is violated. Basically Congress cant tell private citizens or businesses what to say. Public enterprise can 100% censor and shut down speech legally though.
I mean, that's the way it works. Freedom of speech has nothing to do with private censorship. It is 100% protection from government infringement. It stops there though.
Correct me if I am wrong but does the right to free speech not exist in the UK? There is no law enshrining it into British law, correct?
Wow, I thought everyone on THFSG understood there was censorship…… no “freedom of speech” …… on this message board.
