More evidence that this country is in crisis: The terrible tastes of our elected officials and Silicon Valley overlords. I could possibly write a thesis on why politicians like JD Vance, obsessed with "masculinity" has the music tastes of stereotypical gay dude. Anyways, this is a bit of fun, and the playlists are interesting artifacts lol.

What JD Vance, Pam Bondi, and Sam Altman Can’t Stop Listening to, According to the ‘Panama Playlists’

That’s interesting - and I don’t know that I would have bet on Ron DeSantis having one of the most normal seeming playlists on there. But they also seem to have picked some of the more embarrassing songs on the playlist to list if you click through to look at the actual playlists, and I think there are definitely some shared accounts going on there (e.g., I somewhat doubt Hakeem Jeffries made himself a “Galentines” playlist).

I feel like I have broad musical tastes, but when I see other peoples' playlists, it reminds me how many songs I don't know.

Call me a skeptic, but I question the legitimacy of this.

Sounds like click bait to me.

    Yeah, same.

I am a huge music guy, but my main rotation is pretty small. At this point, Stapleton, Petty, Buffett, Childers, Mellencamp, Chesney, the Stones, Zach Brown, and a bunch of 80's pop/rock is pretty much my whole Spotify account. I'm drawn to artists with huge libraries.

Side note: I have a RIP playlist that just hit 50 members with Ozzy. :(

50 people, who I grew up knowing their music have passed away.

Pretty low stakes to be fraudulent. At worst, they just might have misidentified someone else's account for some of the people. JD Vance had his Venmo on public (and so did Gaetz famously), so I dont think many of these guys were all that cyber-secure or overly private online for most of their lives.

I remember awhile back when people found Beto O'Rourke's account. Possibly the only politician I can think of with elite musical taste.

Politicians should have to disclose their playlists, like tax returns, so that I can judge who I want to vote for accordingly.

Have you heard the new Childers album, & if so, do you have any thoughts? It seems very polarizing.

I will also accept that they can be so out of touch that they are just clueless. Like the Stokes playing a Bernie Sanders rally when he's probably still listening to Peter, Paul & Mary on a turntable.
