Found this article with bad news Democrats can’t blame on republicans. Eventually they’re going to have to come to grips with the fact that their messaging is horrible during a time when the republicans are doing everything they can to hand the Democrats the House and Senate. Americans are begging the Democrats to fight back against MAGA and give them a reason to vote for them again, but they seem locked in on trying to find some other reason for their failure. Because there’s a paywall I’m going to post the four relevant paragraphs. Mods if this violates a rule then just delete the thread. This morning, the White House posted a livestream on X of the grand opening ceremony of his newest golf club, Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen, Scotland — the latest in a long line of recent examples of Donald Trump using his public office for personal profit, with U.S. taxpayers covering the bill. Yet, somehow, even in an era of presidential meme coins and library fund shakedowns, voters in the critical congressional districts see Democrats as the corrupt ones. Impact Research — the exalted Democratic pollster used by the presidential campaigns of Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama, as well as the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee, and the Democratic Governors Association — is out with new research likely to turn the stomachs of the firm’s current and former clients. The survey of frontline congressional districts, conducted on behalf of the liberal watchdog End Citizens United and shared exclusively with Rolling Stone, found that, across these districts, voters see Democrats as more corrupt than Republicans. As Trump Grifts, Voters View Dems as More Corrupt than Republicans
Gallup results are a bit different on a similar question …. Democrats Regain Advantage in Party Affiliation
I still think it's the message and not the messaging that is their problem. Their policies are not resonating with the American public.
And you think fascism, which the Republican party fully embraces and which the GOP is trying to force on the American people, DOES resonate with the American public? It IS messaging, with the GOP, via its constant stream of hateful lies, which are repeated over and over again, and gets people to vote against their own interests. The Democratic party, thanks to its weaselly nature, is negatively viewed by many Democrats, due to its lack of a concerted effort to fight fascism. It is NOT negatively viewed because Democrats disagree overall with the positions of the party.
The only thing I can garner from this is a majority of Americans respond to the optics of the situation as opposed to the actual specifics. They view politics as similar to pro wrestling - whomever can yell and beat their chest the loudest is the good guy. Most people clearly can’t compete with Trump on that front. Until the democrats can some up with someone who crafts a coherent message that people identify with nothing dramatically changes.
Define "fascism" as you call it. What part of an American President caring for the American people is fascist? The lies from the Leftists are that we as a sovereign nation don't have the right to keep criminal illegal invaders out of our country. THAT WILL NEVER CHANGE...
I think it's mostly just a difference of opinion; the Leftists just felt that you shouldn't vote for him to be President.
So, what are the top 5 political polices of the Dems, from most important to the least important. Show us your policies, or subjects that you stand for. You can leave the POTUS policies that you do NOT like out and just give use your (The Dem) policies that the Dems stand for.
@OklahomaGator, Rolling Stone should be added to the list of approved sites to start a thread. Meanwhile, it's an odd thing going on. The Democrats' favorability rating is the lowest its been in decades. But they also regained the lead in party affiliation. I don't think there's any question they are down right now. No real leader, no charisma or promise. No Clinton or Obama. They get bogged down in minor issues like trans in sports or let the GOP define them. They don't seem to stand for anything clearly other than not being Trump. Democrats Regain Advantage in Party Affiliation .
I think those are the same things. I’ll give the Trump campaign credit for one thing, and that is he pointed out the kitchen table issues voters cared about (It’s always the economy), and that he was going to fix it. Sure Trump’s plan to impose tariffs was a silly plan but at least it was a plan. Meanwhile the Democrats were all balled up with issues like transgender athletes, refusing to be critical of Netanyahu’s tactics in Gaza, and their inaction on the border. None of those things puts food on the table, pays the rent, or helps with medical bills. Democrats have a golden opportunity to turn things around, and they keep saying they’re going to fight, but talk is cheap and their plan is still nowhere to be seen that I can see.
It is fascistic for Trump to have tried to end democracy in 2020 by attempting to install himself as president when he knew he had lost. It is fascistic to be well into an effort to DICTATE his control over our entire society, whether it be our courts, our press, our business community, or our educational system. Yes, he is a fascist and the Republican party has fully embraced fascism via its full embrace of almost every fascistic thing Trump has done. Edited to add another fascistic data point, one that is very important: The Bove nomination and confirmation to the Federal court is another example of Trump's and the Republican party's support for and the institution of fascism, given that it has been confirmed by multiple sources who have shown PROOF that Bove advocated for and ordered underlings at the DOJ to ignore court orders. It is clearly fascistic for a president's administration to ignore the rule of law via a lack of adherence to and obeyance of court orders. Trump and crew think they can do anything they want even if the courts say otherwise. How can that not be fascistic? And add in the deal with the mayor of New York City, whereby the DOJ had an arrangement with him that if he followed their policies and politics, then they would not prosecute him for the crimes he was charge with. They also tried to make the dismissal without prejudice so they could continue to hold the prosecution hammer over him to force his adherence to their VERY fascistically based deal.
So, you don't like freedom of speech, and you don't believe in federal immigration laws? Enforcing federal immigration laws does NOT make him a dictator... You're Dems LOST the election... and you know what your "messiah" once said, "elections have consequences." Lol I love it, and it's really killing the Liberals/socialists and the commies that hate President Trump. Spiking the ball on the Dems never gets old... especially after four miserable years of that commie stiff, Biden, and cognitively impaired dictates.
The problem for the Dems is simple. For all of the massive overreach by the republicans, the borderline insane decisions etc…at a high level if you ask the American people their views on immigration, transgender issues, size of government, taxes, other “woke” issues, etc…they align with republicans more than Dems and it isn’t really close. So a good chunk of the middle voting public is saying”yeah they’re going a bit crazy, but the alternative is worse”. The Dems keep waiting for the country to make a “rational decision” on the current state of the pubs, but they don’t realize or can’t accept they already have, no matter how bizarre or depressing they (or even I) find it. Until the Dems can find an actual mainstream message that speaks to the country as a whole and not their tiny factions of constituencies that all seem to alienate the larger public, they are dead in the water long term, even if they win the midterms cycle. And just as important, their voters have to stop living in a world where they think their issue is primary, everyone gets a trophy etc, and start recognizing that some compromises have to be made to win back the mainstream. Way too many stay home now on Election Day because of pouty spite, despite knowing the other part would be far worse on whatever issue had them riled up. Not holding my breath though, the Dems have a long history of this silliness.
I love freedom of speech. It is ironic, or maybe incongruous, that Trump and his supporters trash Democrats for free speech when they are leading the fight against free speech, or almost anything free. He is abusing the power of government to take away the free speech of universities, law firms, the press, and other entities, but you, who seemingly supports the fascist moves of Trump and crew, trash Democrats as opposed to free speech? Absurd! And you mention communism...a real Communist, Putin, has received tremendous support from Trump until very recently (and we'll see if the supposed criticism is real or nothing more than a way for Trump and his pal Putin to provide some plausible deniability to Trump, while Putin continues his murderous ways). But Democrats are communists....right... Yes, elections should have consequences, but said consequences should definitely not be centered around Trump dictating his hateful, fascistic approach on the rest of us, while ignoring the laws of our country.
Everyone is free to speak their mind here in the U.S.A.... they're just not free from the consequences if they create discourse.
