Rationally, I would agree although it wouldn't surprise me if Trump's personal SCOTUS doesn't bend over backwards and determine that he has statutory authority to impose the tariffs.

It would be the best thing that could happen to Trump, saving him from himself. And I think they will rule against Trump. Roberts, ACB, and Kavanaugh can't possibly be that far gone that they'd rule that Trump has the constitutional authority to impose tariffs whenever and however he wants.

    Right here
Whether they are “working” (however that is measured) is an entirely separate issue from whether a president has authority to unilaterally impose them. If SCOTUS rules that this president has such power, it will extend to all future Democratic presidents, a consequence about which I assume you are less enthused.

This is what puzzles me about my fellow "conservatives". Do they not think this roughshod approach will never backfire?

Trump will be gone. And at some point the libs will have control. It scares me what their revenge tour will look like.

Strong, professional and mature....like Reagan... is how you approach liberalism.
But no...we just want to stir up hornets nests so we all get stung later.

Conservatives need to really think about how this will impact us at some point.

The argument is to whether the president should have the unilateral authority to create tariffs not whether you think they are doing just fine.

Yep. It seems more and more like the legislative branch is becoming irrelevant. We need the SCOTUS to reign in what the POTUS is and is not allowed to do.

It is no coincidence Jackson’s picture hangs on the wall of the oval office. Trump is simply following in the footsteps of one the presidents most known for his expansion of executive authority.

I think you are forgetting that when that day comes their opinion on presidential power will change. "The Dem POTUS is acting like a dictator"
