The school board of Alachua County is a bad joke and she is one reason why. Just par for the course for Alachua County though. The lady still wears a mask in the school board meetings for some reason.

The trouble with that is you're taking the repetitious claim that no one who supports Trump can ever point out anyone else doing anything bad. We've had that from both sides before. So where else do we stand?
No Democrat can criticize any Republican's competence because ... well, Biden. Or question personal morality because ... hey, Clinton.
You don't need to bring it up over and over. I'm pretty sure we all know where you stand.

Your snark is noted. Here is an idea about advice regarding staying on topic.

Hmmm. How about this: Stay on topic.
This isn't about the person the OP voted for. It is about a person that made a terrible comment.

Discuss that, or avoid the thread if you feel you are unable to discuss the actual topic.

(This is the only time I will give such helpful advice).

I think that was true for much of his life. But late in life he seemed to have found redemption and invested more in others.

That is part of his story too.

We all have time for redemption as long as we have a heartbeat.

I hope so, for his sake. But he was a prolific liar, and they tend to know how to say the right things to people.

    No lies here.

Add her to a list of people I feel are unfit for the jobs they do.

True. That's why I look more at his actions. Seemed to have a real change at some point more recently. Actually using less words and more actions from someone who I trust that had some knowledge.

Perhaps the silver lining of illness is giving one the chance to make amends and such to people close to you. I think with many people in wrestling the ship had sailed long ago though, or it was too late because they went before him.

I don't quite understand why comparisons and precedents are "off topic." I agree that it's unproductive to go all "blue sky," on an issue, but I think compare/contrast, on the subject, is fair. It helps to see the broader picture. This thread, for example--wouldn't strictly talking about a single woman who did a single bad thing make for a pretty boring thread? Once you type in "bad idea," what's left?

I disagree with the "fire her now!" crowd. Ok, that's hyperbole. Was this a pattern of behavior or did she have a momentary lapse of reason w a dose of poor judgement? If she should be forced to resign for poor taste & judgement as @slayerxing suggested, does that mean all people in similar leadership positions should be forced to resign for similar? Where is the line to be drawn for such policy? And what if she was otherwise a model employee who was making a positive impact in the ACPS? Should that all be discounted for a single screw up?

This appears to legit being the woman's social media action, but in the future, I suspect there will be a greater abundance of fakes out there. Can't jump to conclusions.

Another thing to think about - we are entering a time when many of today's young professionals have had their identities formed largely through social media. Placing what may be considered old school expectations on these individuals may be problematic going forward. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but I would at least give it consideration.

Some vile statements cannot simply be disregarded and ignored with an, "oops I got caught," type of apology. She has no business teaching young minds.

So what you’re saying is everything doesn’t need its own thread or even need to be discussed?

I figured this question might come up. As worded, no. I have no problem with people calling her out for her comments and her having to squirm over them, but in scenarios like this, I also think it's important to recognize apologies and give people a chance to do better (there's no explicit victim here). If I were to have a strong opinion over whether I'd like for her to leave or not, it would need to be based on how she has voted and other comments she has made. I don't have enough information on this front, and even still, it would be very difficult to separate anything that I may not have liked with whether or not that is tied to the view she expressed. In other words, she may be doing her job perfectly based on what her role allows for, but her views may not be in line with mine. It feels irrationally biased on my part to use that as an out to try to have her removed from her position. I would have to envision a similar scenario with someone who may lean the way I do making a distasteful comment and how much would I want that person removed from office. Without a decent knowledge of her contributions to date, I'm inclined to not feel she should be removed from her position.

But I understand others feeling differently as well. Some may lean the way she does but want her removed.

I am more angered by intrusions of privacy and what is allowed in our private lives. It is crazy that a private comment on a friend’s Facebook page is now “thought police” level stuff.

Question: how many of you believe all your THfSG posts are “anonymous”? What would stop a cyber threat on THfSG? Everyone’s posts here could be scrapped and attached to a private email and sent out to the world… even your employer.

When you go on social media you pretty much give up the right to privacy. Facebook has settings that allow only specific people (friends) to see your content. If you don’t use those it’s out there whether you want it to be or not. Of all the peope I know who are on Facebook only one has hers set that way. Also who reads all the small print agreements you click on and agree to when you sign up for social media?

Public elected officials are warned and some even have written rules about what they can and cannot say or post.

I give this lady an F for being a public official and spouting off on Facebook. That’s not a very smart thing to do.

Source matters. When a poster uses every single thread to pound the same tired drum it becomes obvious that their agenda, not the thread topic, is all they care about. And when that poster makes snarky remarks about staying on topic while beating the same drum then...well...they get the response that I guess they need.

I think you make some valid points Davis, and I would be willing to pause my unfit pov stated above for a deeper look.

What is problematic though is where is the line? Had she said "one less Jew" we would all agree she should be fired. Or "one less transgender child", we would all agree.

But she chose an even larger group to wish death upon.

So I would hear her out based on your valid points above, but she would need a laundry list of counter evidence to convince me she was still worthy to be involved in educating young minds.

My thinking is if you consider yourself even vaguely progressive, why are you on FB or meta platforms, using twitter, etc - especially if you cant help yourself from commenting or ranting for all to see. Its not 2014 anymore. Those things are getting closer to tech oligarchy "state media" than ever. Its one thing to have a presence so you can like your relatives vacation photos, its another to post things that you never know who's watching.

By discussing it in the thread that existed at the time.

I mean if we have a thread about a bad int that DJ throws against Tennessee this season, we won't water it down by saying, yeah by Franks made way more boneheaded plays than that.

We will discuss THAT play and how it impacted THAT game. Franks INTs had nothing to do with the material facts of THIS years Tennessee game.

And it's totally false to say people complaining about this had zero problem with what Trump said. Totally false.
