Careful, I got banned from the Hulk Hogan thread for (rightfully) insulting him like this.

I believe you’re responding to the wrong post because that’s not what I said at all.

How would you know if an apology is sincere or not? It’s irrelevant if people believe the apology is sincere or accepted. Those who refuse to accept her apology as sincere probably wouldn’t vote for her anyway, but those who demand the resignation of someone who says something inappropriate must demand the resignation of everyone who does the same.

But that bolded part is absolutely true. You can find literally hundreds of examples. Let's take a more obvious one :

"[Haitian immigrants] are eating the [neighbors'] cats and dogs."

That's a racist lie intended to promote antipathy towards a certain ethnic minority. How can you conceivably argue otherwise?

Kudos to this chairwoman for taking ownership of her comments and apologizing. She's much classier than righty hero Hulk Hogan, who didn't take ownership of his comments nor apologize after he threatened to body slam Kamala Harris.

You’re making a perfectly valid point. Sometimes I point out the ‘yeah but republicans support Trump’ on threads that have nothing to do with it. Sometimes i just glaze over it.

I'm not overloading this thread with repetition of my opinion, but I'm going to respectfully disagree with you.

I don't support her public comment, I'm glad she apologized, and I'd have zero problem if this comment caused her to lose a public office.

But the people complaining about it had zero problem with, for example, Trump publicly stating that Liz Cheney should face a firing squad.

Is that not egregious flagrant hypocrisy? Of course it is. So how do we deal with that? Do we pretend it isn't the case, simply isn't happening?

I didn't think her comment was appropriate .... nor do I think my post on was objective and fair as regard liberals. I'm likely as big a hypocrite as this school board member was with her comment.

Wasn't there a thread about staying on topic.....I think the gist of that thread was if a liberal does something bad 'but Trump" isn't an honest reply and if a Republican does something bad "but Obama or but Biden" is not on topic. When you add language like (led by a lying, racist hate-monger) it becomes 10x off topic.

I’ve never understood why people demand the resignations of stupid political opponents. Why not keep them close, them and the albatrosses around their necks, for convenient ridicule ?

Here's the big thing for me - her posting something like that on social media shows both poor taste and poor judgement

I don't think people with poor taste or poor judgement should be in leadership positions in our public schools (or our government - too bad for me lol).

Therefore, I'd be fine with her resigning, because you'd have to be a tasteless person with poor judgement to post that on a public facing social medial page.

Agree. A dumbass and unnecessary comment and while I could care a less if they do force her to resign, I also have no problem allowing her to apologize and keep her position.

Hey, if you didn’t like Hulk Hogan, fine, but don’t go on social media and show your ass with idiotic posts.

Exactly, I can't believe how many people out there just don't have a filter anymore and post and say whatever comes into their pea brained mind without thinking about the consequences. It's all over the place like Twitter or FB is a protective cocoon with no repercussions.

If the big guns are going to be employed for saying stupid things on the internet, what's left for more offensive behavior?

As to the starter of this thread, I find his intolerance for offensive behavior puzzling.

I don’t know. Just saying I doubt it, as I do most.

She shouldn’t lose her job over it. And neither should others who apologize for similar comments.

Let the voters decide the next election, not public opinion

I'm fine with that. I just find it interesting that some people are willing to condemn anyone who makes such a comment, while others outright ignore such from "their team" . Even as they level accusations at others. (Note : I've condemned this lady, and wouldn't vote for her.)

Do you not see an egregious double standard? You have to. Is this just a thing we tolerate because ..... well, because we do?
