I played in a regular golf foresome for many many years and unless we were playing in a tourney we all agreed on the rules we would play by on the first tee. We were not interested in a 5 hour round, but in just enjoying ourselves. 2 of us were single digit handicap golfers and the other 2 were in the 18-25 range. I personally played by the USGA rules, but did not care what the others did, as it was not about beating the other players for me but about beating the course. The other 2 high handicap players were given X amount of mulligans per side and were allowed to play what is called winter rules even in the rough. I broke 70 gwo times in my life, one a 68 and one a 69, and regularly shot in the mid to high 70's. Today, I can no longer play and miss it but such is life. I could care less what a man in his late 70's does on the golf course.

Nobody knows what “rules” Trump was playing with there, I’m sure everyone who has played golf has local rules or done “gimmies” on short puts when everyone agrees to that. What is amusing is the way the caddy thinks he is being sly about it. This is also exactly the way he was accused of actually cheating in the past.

If you hit a ball in the hazard or OB and just drop another ball far up the fairway pretending you didn’t do that, that’s pretty much just straight cheating. Not really room for interpretation.

Just spent about 2 weeks in Scotland and Ireland. Only had a couple casual discussions about politics/international issues. May have just been circumstances/limited pool of people, but no one expressed Trump hatred or anti-American sentiment. They generally hoped for better times and more opportunities. If you want to see Scots or Irish get red-faced, then bring up English politics. Yea, like most people, they care more about their back yard than what disputes/drama we have in America.

    This is a good summary.

Hatred is too strong a word anyway. Most just don't really care for him to get too worked up.

Ask any Scot/Irish person about "England" though? Bring your pitchforks.

On the golf, good news is I've been taking hints based on his videos and I'm delighted to say I've qualified for next year's Open. I just shot 42 under par with my caddy alongside...

generally we think individual Europeans concern themselves with us much more than they actually do.

    I'm your misnomer.

I love the States, have lived, worked and 'vacationed' there. I bleed O&B.
Most of my friends and colleagues think I'm bananas and give too much care - they are probably right.

It's hardly fair to compare the two. "Every golfer on this board," isn't the president of the USA, representing us in a foreign nation, and the subject of constant surveillance, video and otherwise. It looks like he's engaging in dodgy business, what with the surreptitious (not) caddy relocating the golf ball. What's particularly galling is his MO of cheating, then declaring himself the winner of multiple championships!

Be assured that if Trump hands his critics a big, juicy video cudgel of cheating, we will whack him with it.

No one should care that he cheats at golf. It’s just how it’s revelatory about his character.

Many recreational golfers will readily admit to ‘winter rules’, or mulligans, or a foot wedge. Do you think Trump would - or even could - admit it? How many rule-bending players do you know that would insist they shot the course record or won the club tourney? How many would submit their ‘Trumped up’ scores for a sub-3 handicap?

What would you think of a guy that not only did that, but would get pissy if you didn’t go along with it and fluff his ego by lauding how great he was?

Shouldn't the Riley Gaines warriors be upset for the rightful winners of those club championships?

Since Trump and his crew are vacationing at his resort, just wondering how much all this costing the US taxpayers.

It would seem to be more accurate for you to say that you don’t care what a man in his late 70s does on or off the golf course. The man cheats and lies about everything. And you just keep backing him up.
