8-4 regular season then a bowl win would look good, and mean we win two road games(1-3). If we add a bowl win, he looks like a guy juuuust outside the playoffs. 5-3 SEC is a meager step up but a step up. Last season 5-3 SEC ties us with a group of coaches all reasonably safe in their jobs. I just don't see Admin being pressured if we go 9-4, 8-5(maybe). I am not saying 8-5 is acceptable, just that there will be half a dozen SEC teams with worse records not changing coaches.
8-4 reg season. Bowl games are almost meaningless. Id rather win it than lose but the game could either be a step up in competition or a step down like last year with the best players not even participating.
Yeah like I said he’ll be retained but it won’t be because anyone has any confidence he can win a title. He’s got Lagway and one of the most talented experienced teams in America. If he can’t make the Playoff this year with 12 teams it’s just not going to happen, and that’s okay. Some coaches aren’t elite and they are still good guys. Hopefully it’s really bad or really good so we can move on or settle in. The every year hot seat sucks.
We have seven of the top 13 and 3-4 top 10. We may be one of the twelve best and still not get in the playoffs. Recruiting ranking say we are fare behind bama, texas, Georgia , osu and maybe a couple others. After those temams, there are somewhere in the neighborhood of ten teams that have similar talent to us. We arent getting in the playoffs by outakenting the teams on our schedule. If we get in, itll be the entire program as a whole, coaching, developing, and having a bunch of players buying into the staff and playing hard. If we play 500 ball against ones ranked 13 or better, we lose 3-4 games. If we go 9-3, id say thats outstanding and we are still 50/50 of getting in the playoffs.
Like you said in a previous post, QB’s mean everything. If we have the best QB and match talent or come close to 10 teams on our schedule no reason we shouldn’t be playoff bound. Obviously things can happen but if not now then when with Billy? Serious question..
Lsu and ole miss are more than likely who we are trying to beat out for that spot and they have qbs who also may be very good. Nuss im not sold on but Simmons looked legit the bit he played. We prob have to beat them both and upset a yoo 10 team to get in.
If we had Texas, FSU or Kentucky’s schedule 8-4 would be a huge disappointment. But we don’t. After Texas plays OS, look at their 4 week build up to our game. I think we will do better than 8-4 this season in spite of our daunting schedule but more than the number of Wins and losses we need to see how it plays out. I think it is fair for Gator fans to expect a better team and performance on the field this season.
Thats bare minimum...its really dependent on if like last year one or two losses are a result of coaching blunders like last year and the year before. If he costs us a couple wins by rolling out 12 players (or 9...) at a critical time or gets delay of game penalties at the wrong time because the play wasnt called in time then a decision need to be made. Wonderful person but you just cant continue to not correct that kind of stuff year after year and survive.
You know Endless Excuses refers to that FSU brainwashing circus a few years back...I have my limit with Gator excuses.
I’ve stated since spring I don’t think you can put a number on it. I think it depends on what the 8 wins & 4 losses look like. Are we in those 4 loss games? …or do we get boat raced by 3 scores?
If we aren’t significantly better than last year, there is a big problem. Everything is in place for a special year…top quarterback, good offensive line, really good running backs and receivers, and an improved defense.
I'm hoping for an improved defense, but I'm not counting on it. The D lost some significant players from last year's squad. Let's hope the pups can step up and play as well or better.
I do not know what you mean. If you were to say you prefer we win 9 RS then lose the bowl, okay, it's still 9 wins. But 9-4 seems better than 8-5
