Yes, I dont think Rahm is going to significantly reign-in ICE or do an about-face on immigration, he's not going to confront the Supreme Court, look to eliminate the filibuster if there is a senate majority, promote academic freedom on campus, etc. Shit, he might not even go to bat to bring back funding on medicaid or raise taxes on rich people. This isnt even necessarily left vs. liberal thing. Like Gavin Newsome is wanting to redisctict if Texas goes through with it ... meanwhile dipshit CA socialist Alex Lee is saying "dont gerrymander." So as I said, its more about realizing democracy, not setting an example that Republicans wont follow.

Lets see ... He was probably the most hated member of the Obama administration, an unpopular mayor, and is a staunch Zionist in a party who's voting base has its lowest opinion of Israel possibly ever. Friends of the Clintons, and pretty much most of the aging Dem establishment that people dont really like. There is no scenario where you could paint him as a "fresh" Democratic candidate that is taking the party in a new direction.

Went back and listened to Rahm on Megyn Kelly. He handled himself well.

Ultimately I think Democrats have to have a candidate that can go outside the D ideological bubble and have a conversation and hold their own - and seem credible.

So is your position that the Jews should not be able to have a Jewish state in Israel? Because that is what a Zionist literally is.

I do not agree with Rahm on a lot but i thought the fact he would sit down with Kelly spoke very highly of him.

What does my opinion matter? Do you disagree that Rahm is a Zionist? Do you disagree that a large swath of democratic voters have a negative opinion of Israel and its government? You don’t think that would be a point of contention in a primary?

So does a majority of the Democratic Party want the state of Israel dissolved? I sure hope not. Having a negative opinion of Israel and calling for their deconstruction are two different things.

I suspect strictly speaking most of the D candidates are “Zionists”.

Apparently Netanyahu called Rahm a “self hating Jew” which he has been wearing as a badge of honor and mentioned in both podcasts, presumably to try to soften his perception among pro intifada Dems such as yourself. Clearly it isn’t working.

I would say the majority want to stop arming it and giving it aid in its present state and conduct … which to many of the strongest defenders of Israel is essentially the same thing. Hence the tension!
