If I slipped into any country without documentation I would expect to be detained if caught.

We should send the Orange Skidmarks wife out of the country, she broke some legal immigrant rules.... Are we sure every soccer, basketball, hockey, etc player is here on the up and up.... I mean we need to lock this place down....

How about people who entered the country legally and overstayed their visas and/or entered under one type of visa and violated the terms of the visa like the woman from Slovenia who entered the US under a tourist visa, overstayed the visa and starting working as model without the correct visa or the guy from South Africa by way of Canada who entered legally under a student visa, dropped out of college and decided to stay.

Actually, it was documented. The documents were exhibits in unrelated court cases in New York. The fact is that her name appears on those documents when she still held a tourist visa as a person working jobs.

Lawyer for Melania Trump, Michael Wildes, contested the AP's report, stating that claims of her working illegally were "not supported by the record and are therefore completely without merit"

Th AP : The documents obtained by the AP show she was paid for 10 modeling assignments between Sept. 10 and Oct. 15, during a time when her visa allowed her generally to be in the U.S. and look for work but not perform paid work in the country. The documents examined by the AP indicate that the modeling assignments would have been outside the bounds of her visa.

Fox : WASHINGTON – Melania Trump was paid for 10 modeling jobs in the United States worth $20,056 that occurred in the seven weeks before she had legal permission to work in the country, according to detailed accounting ledgers, contracts and related documents from 20 years ago provided to The Associated Press.

Seems accounting ledgers, contracts and other related documents suggest that in fact it is documented.

Well...if her lawyer said so...and didn't elaborate or even directly address the issues or specific documents...

Why didn't she sue the AP. She successfully sued a blogger who criticized her (don't recall the exact issue). If it was "not supported by the record and are therefore completely without merit" a positive outcome of a defamation lawsuit would have been a slam dunk keeping in mind the AP has much deeper pockets than the blogger.

Immigrant who legally entered the US, abided by all immigration laws, and was never arrested for violating any other law says that he was tortured and physically and sexually abused because the government decided he was a gang member, with their evidence being a tattoo in which he has a crown over the words "Mom" and "Dad." In reality, he is a gay makeup artist that fears repression in his home country due to his sexual orientation and opposition to the ruling dictator.

This is what you want, right?

Gay makeup artist Andry Hernández Romero describes horrific sexual & physical abuse at CECOT in El Salvador

Isn’t an undocumented immigrant a criminal by definition. Didn’t a substantial majority of Americans signal, in the run-up to the election, that they wanted to oust undocumented immigrants ? Did they stipulate only undocumented immigrants who committed additional crimes after arriving in the US ?

To answer your first question, the answer is no. An undocumented immigrant here waiting on an asylum hearing is here legally, and hasn't broken any laws. And those who have no documents and not waiting for a hearing have only broken civil laws, akin to speeding or j-walking. And we generally don't refer to people with only minor civil offenses as criminals.

If indeed these two were not guilty of anything 2 cases does not mean ice is targeting anybody. When you consider 50,000+ have been deported there are bound to be a couple of mistakes.

So the term illegal immigrant literally has no meaning ? And how long are you allowed to remain undocumented while waiting to be granted asylum ? For that matter, how many care to be granted asylum as long as they are not disturbed from living and working her undocumented ?

Oops...sorry about that torture and physical and sexual abuse that we sent you to in a gulag in an authoritarian foreign country that isn't your home country because we decided that you get no due process rights in the US to show that you legally immigrated (passing a credible fear interview for asylum) and that your tattoos for your mom and dad don't mean that you, as a person with no criminal convictions for anything, is a member of a dangerous street gang? I don't think they make that Hallmark card.

BTW, the government is targeting a variety of legal immigrants (e.g., those with student visas who have been locked in prison for their speech). In addition, many of the CECOT folks were legally in the US.

A few things. There is nowhere close to 30 million illegal immigrants in the country right now. You are on the high side by more than 10 million. Also, many of these people are undocumented, but waiting for their cases to be heard. Those people are not commonly referred to as illegals except by far right extremists. More problematic, in my opinion, is people like you saying let’s send them all packing. I find this to just be pure cruelty. And, I can’t understand how people who profess to be religious, take this position. We have people who have been in this country for 60 or 70 years who have now been deported by the Trump administration, even though they’ve been here since they were little children and have no other place to go to. This is heartless cruelty. Add this to not helping starving people around the world, kicking millions of people off of health insurance, not helping the hungry in this country, and on and on and on, and we are becoming a country that almost all of us could never have imagined.
