That's the part I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around. If we are paying you to play football, they will start asking "why do I have to get a degree?" Or even work towards one. Once the scholarship is neutered as a requirement, this thing is going to go sideways in a hurry. It seems like the scholarship is the only thing that is loosely tying in Title 9.
Its a mess. Many football players aren't interested in exucation and minor sports are really wanting an education but arent really earning the free ride. Its a weird system.
I think we as Gator fans tend to ignore information about FSU that we don’t want to hear but they were undefeated in the regular season in 2023 (and beat UF on the road) while we were praying for a winning season LAST YEAR. Norvell is a very well-respected coach and lots of players are going to want to play for his team. On our side of the ledger, we have a coach who has been on the hot seat since he arrived, managed to pull out a winning but not exactly spectacular season last year, and hasn’t shown to be a world-class offensive mind but refuses to consider a real offensive play caller. I love my Gators, and I think Napier is a good coach … but the reality is we are pretty lucky that WE are able to recruit as well as we do.
