My first year of a 3-year SEC football schedule suggestion... This is year one with years 2 and 3 schedules to follow.

    Year One - Prime Year

West Division (West - Quad 1)

    Alabama
    Auburn
    Ole Miss
    MSU

West Division (West - Quad 2)

    LSU
    Texas A&M
    Texas
    Oklahoma

    ________________________________________________________

East Division (East - Quad 1)

    Florida
    UGA
    Tennessee
    Vanderbilt

    East Division (East Quad 2)

    Kentucky
    South Carolina
    Missouri
    Arkansas

The Gators Prime Year, Year one rotation schedule. The Gators' home schedule in no particular order.

    1. UGA
    2. Tennessee
    3. Vanderbilt
    4. Kentucky
    5. South Carolina
    6. Missouri
    7. Arkansas
    8. LSU or Ole Miss as the secondary pick.
    9. Texas or Auburn as the secondary pick. (Optional 9th SEC game)

Now come the cross division rival (permanent game that we will play every year) I pick LSU, but you all can create your own list of teams to fit this schedule matrix.

    8. LSU - but is some rotational years LSU will be in our (same) division, so therefor I have to pick a secondary team for our 8th game that is NOT is LSU's quad. Remember all schedules are made from the prime year of our 3-year rotational schedule.

So, I pick Ole Miss to be our 8th game in years that LSU is in our division.

Now if we go to a 9 game schedule it's easy to add one more team. I have always felt that Texas would be a great team to play, some here might rather we play Auburn... so, since this is my preferred schedule, I choose Texas...

This is my year one of a 3-year SEC schedule rotation.

    Florida
    UGA
    Tennessee

    Alabama
    Auburn
    Ole Miss
    MSU

    (East Quad 2)

    Kentucky
    South Carolina

    Arkansas

Our home games change to reflect our new division.

The Gators' home reschedule in year 2 of the 3-year rotation in no particular order.

    1. UGA
    2. Tennessee
    3. Vanderbilt
    4. LSU
    5. Texas A&M
    6. Texas
    7. Oklahoma
    8. Ole Mis. - The secondary team, because LSU (primary team) is in our division, so we get the secondary team.
    9. Auburn. - The secondary team, because Texas (primary team) is in our division this year.

You all can rearrange the teams to suit your preferences to a certain schedule if you want.

In this 3 year SEC rotation no team goes more than 2 years without playing every other SEC in our conference.

It's the best schedule out there, and it's not even close.

The time of day in which games are played... and the date we play each other is their only real concern, because the schedule is made for a 3-year autorotation. All we have to do is to adopt this rotation This takes all the scheduling guesswork out of the SEC head office's hands.

The real beauty of this schedule is that with 2 division it gives back real meaning to the SEC Championship Game again.

I do like some form of divisions - and a four team playoff for the sec. It was good tge way it was and now doesn't guarantee a true champion.

In my 2 division SEC conference only 2 teams play for the SEC Championship Game. But in some years that could leave more than 3 or 4 teams with only one loss.

Thanks Rick! Obviously a lot of thought has gone into this. I'm looking forward to the discussions and will contribute as soon as I get back from tutoring so I understand it. (Just kidding). LOL! :)

So far, I mostly like the East-West aspect for the SECCG again.

Most of those would be in the play-offs though. 1 loss SEC teams > undefeated "most other conference" teams and surely 1 loss "other conference" teams.

Which is what is wrong right now. Not having anywhere near to equal strength of schedule in common opponents, record is kind of arbitrary. Add the ninth game and go back to two divisions.

There is no need for a 4 way playoff....that just adds losses and difficulty for SEC teams trying to get into the playoffs. Go back to 2 divisions and let each division champion play in the SEC title game. Either that, or get rid of the faux championship game altogether if they want to keep the current, stupid no-division champion set-up.

The bigger points are that we have two divisions and that gives us a good reason to have and SECCG, and no team goes more than 2 years without playing any other SEC team. Now, I have said that we can mix and match the teams in these quads, so forget the makeup of the teams in these quads that I posted and make your preferred teams... to give us your great match-ups every year. If you want... That is why I posted this 3 year rotation. Feel free to change up the teams.

But this rotation is the way forward when it comes to fairness of playing every other team in our conference.

One reason I chose the teams in these quads was because of traditional rivalries.

Take (West Quad 1) for instance. The teams are Bama/Auburn and Ole Miss and NSU because of the Iron Bowl and the Egg Bowl respectively.

The (West Quad 2) is Texas/Oklahoma and LSU/Texas A&M because of the Red River Rivalry and the leftover NEW rivalry between LSU and Texas A&M.

On the East side we have (East Quad 1) with The Gators/UGA and Tennessee/Vanderbilt because of the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party and the two teams from Tennessee leftover.

In (East Quad 2) we have Kentucky/South Carolina and Missouri/Arkansas...mainly because these are natural teams that are near each other or teams that have been good games to watch. The reality is there are some real long time rivalries that have to be in the same quad to make sense.

The 8th game fixes more rivalries.
UGA/Auburn should be their permanent 8th game
Tennessee/Bama should be their permanent 8th game.
The Gators/LSU fixes our 8th game.

And the rest will be up to anyone here that wants to take a shot at making these other teams' 8th game schedules.
