Businesses are passing along tariff costs, Fed reports

    Right, but what happened there was the same term has different meanings in different industries/contexts. "Cost-Plus" in this case means different things in pricing vs in contracts. What md calls "cost-plus", I'd call Gross Margin % (or GM%) which is the percentage of fee or profit on a contracted value without accounting for the "General and Administrative" (G&A) expenses.

    Bessent downplaying impacts of tariffs. IMO still too early to tell. Markets don’t react like they did earlier this year to tariffs.


    “I would think that it's not the end of the world if these snapback tariffs are on for anywhere from a few days to a few weeks," Bessent replied, "As long as the countries are moving forward and trying to negotiate in good faith."

    For U.S. businesses that could be hit with more tariff hikes starting Friday, however, Bessent's suggestion that "it's not the end of the world" is unlikely to be all that reassuring.”
