This came across my feed. Brought back many memories and the story was great. I know we have many here on too hot with all kinds of different views when it comes to God and Religion. But this video has something special about it imo (including how to handle copyright)…
Hello friends. I think that song is really uncreative & very lame. I am thrilled that others find it pleasing & enjoyable. For me, it makes me wanna puncture my eardrums.
So why not just ignore the thread and move on? Pretty sure a multil-tine Grammy, AMA and Billboard nominated artist must sound good to many. His song Coming Home (about a prodigal) literally led me to a career change. I played that song daily as I was struggling with the decision to close a business and pursue a career in Non-profit work. His music is very inspirational.
@gator_jo, you can't disagree with a personal illustration of how someone's music was inspirational.it isn't up for debate. Once again. Just ignore the thread. What's next for you and doc? Challenging people on their food tastes? Poster: "My wife and I really enjoyed our anniversary dinner. That place has excellent food." Response: "Disagree, that place makes me want to hurl" So dumb to do that.
I could say why post on Too Hot if you are not ready for people to shit on your post? There are other forums on this board where people arent going to do that. For the record, I thought that song was lame when I was in youth group back in the day, and its still lame today lol. Also, look who started it, a person with a history of starting stuff looking for the negative feedback, whether its masking, covid, gushing over Ron DeSantis, etc.
If I ever start a thread about how I cried listening to a Woody Guthrie song about unions, I expect I will get made fun of.
I suspect the OP expected some criticism. But, you know, you could always surprise people by not being negative. If people find beauty and inspiration in music, in any music, then more power to them. I'd say he has a nice voice and a very nice sounding guitar. When I bought my Taylor, a friend started kidding me about it being good for praise music.
You could do that, but much like a good musical performance, you gotta give the people what they want and play the dang hits
Even electric Dylan at Newport eventually gave the crowd Mr. Tambourine Man. Compromise with a thread about how people ain’t gotta work on Maggie’s farm no more.
I did sort of get a laugh that in the Chalamet Dylan movie, they portrayed Pete Seeger as a Mr. Rogers-like fuddy duddy who wouldnt let dudes just rock out
I get inspiration from many songs. Amazing grace with bagpipes is the song I had played at my dads funeral. Many hymnals move me. Jewell’s Life Uncommon is another. Then there’s Arlo Guthrie “Alice’s Restaurant”. Tells a funny story We all have different tastes. You can disagree without being a jerk about it. Try it some time. It’s not that difficult.
So what are you waiting for? Punch that pencil through--but make sure to record it and post the video on here--we'd love to see it
Doc fashions himself a musician, and has posted some of his stuff on here. And is also a very vocal critic about other's music... ...which is pretty funny, bc he actually sucks outlook. Straight up fact.
Whoah, we are ragging on the musical chops of posters now, this thread has potential to go to new exciting places
If you're going to shit all over other's music and post your own, you'd better be Eddie Van Halen, or otherwise reeeeaally good... or at least damn sure be ready to take an honest assessment of your own music. C'est la vie
Eddie Van Halen just wanked on a few shitty solos and he's god to some people (am I doing this right?)
