We are giving Afghanistan 40 mill a week?

Funny thing is, if we don't take our eye off the ball in Iraq, maybe Afghanistan (which was absolutely justified) goes better. Also, one has to acknowledge that the only "savable" part of Afghanistan is the northern 1/3. Just wall off Pashtun land and call it "Mad Max!!!!"

 

We had the wrong president in power for 9-11. Not saying that Clinton, Obama, or anyone else would have been better, but GWB was more of a provincial hick with a poor intellect, who succeeded more because of his connections than his knowledge and experience. He didn't know that Iraq had three sects of Islam that didn't get along, and badly underestimated the difficulty of making a new government with them. Meanwhile, he put a horse show organizer in charge of the entire operation, who was even less qualified for his new job than GWB was at his. The war went very well, but the peace was a disaster. Obviously, he also got some bad advice along the way.

 

Which is so sad since his father is the guy I'd reincarnate and install as Dictator (Short term, like the original definition). I really didn't want Jeb, but in hindsight, we did a lot worse.

 

Also, Mission Accomplished was when the real mission started and the Joint Chiefs and McCain wanted a larger force for that very reason.

 

It is absolutely a joke that the US, under good ole Joe Biden, gave $2.8B to Afghanistan since the withdrawal in August, 2021. And while I completely agreed with the decision to pull out, obviously Biden turned that into a complete cluster also.

I don’t agree with all that Trump is doing but I fully supported the significant cuts he made to foreign aid earlier this year. It’s America first and while we will always give more than our share, it’s time for other countries to pay their share.

 

Wait, what? Trump freed thousands of Taliban soldiers, broadcast that we were leaving .... and then it's Biden's fault when he followed through with that plan?

I'd be interested in what Biden did wrong, as opposed to the military - if anyone. Also, should Biden have put more forces into Afghanistan .... in order to evacuate?

LOL. Trump cut nearly the entirety of US Aid. Will we really always "give more than our share" ?

You must be unaware that, proportionate to their GDP, most industrialized countries give far more than the US does, in foreign aid. And that's before Trump cut almost the entirety of US foreign aid.

Is it time to research this issue instead of repeating Trumpy talking points?
