I would disagree and say Obama was a bully but just much more circumspect about how he went about doing it.
How so? Passive aggressive? I just found Obama to be a big fat ZERO. Capitulates to the banks when that was the exact time to reform the system - and the entire country would have been behind him. Instead we get the band aid of ACA, which I'm still torn on. I had to use it for a couple years and it was a nice option to have (though, not really that cheap and you get taxed on all the subsidies, which cost me an extra $500-1000), but I remember my employer insurance being much better before ACA.

It’s been a slow erosion of our protections. I’m not sure what Obama had to do with it. Reagan did away with the Fairness Doctrine, which opened the door for misinformation to be presented as fact without any requirement for balance. He also deregulated corporations, allowing them to eliminate pensions — contributing to a growing segment of the population, especially the middle class, that now feels excluded from the American dream. Agree that the next administration needs to learn from this and tamp down the rhetoric. Be a president for everyone.
The time that Obama gave a talk at GW about fiscal responsibility and criticized Ryan's "Path to Prosperity" plan with Ryan in the front row of the audience. Then there was the time he criticized the SCOTUS decision on Citizens United during the SOTU with the Justices in attendance.
