Catholic priests would go to jail before they would reveal ANYTHING they heard as a confession of crimes in the confessional.
The privilege between priest and confessional is pretty clear, kind of like client-attorney privilege, journalistic freedom of the press, etc. Govt cannot expect to pierce that privilege where it’s expressely forbidden (although we see them more and more trying to threaten journos, and now this admin even threatens public defenders, so it’s something else they’d take this type of opposite hardline position to protect predators). It could never be used in a criminal case I don’t think, not sure that’s what Washington state was after, but surely Child protective services could be expected/required to get involved if abuse is reported? I think in this case, perhaps the ruling is correct in a technical legal sense. But the Catholic Church’s position itself is DISGUSTING, especially with their history of scandal and covering up child sex abuse. Are they kidding!? So their “win” here further enshrines their ability to shield sexual abusers and ensure children will continue to be victimized perhaps YEARS after it could have been stopped. Ummm… congrats?

Yes, Trump is THAT freaking pathetic of an excuse for a president. Although, for a pedophile, he's polling pretty well. Trump seems to combine the worst qualities of Richard Nixon (enemy lists), Herbert Hoover (poor people? that's their problem), Jimmy Carter (malaise economy), Andrew Johnson (demagoguery), and Bill Clinton (life dedicated to under-age skirt-chasing).
