    No complaints from me.
I can’t imagine that bill making it through…the Ten Commandments shouldn’t be forced into the classroom.
It’s not that hard. Just go to church if you want to.

But Bluke, he’s a Libby Dem!? Certainly you got complaints. He’s got way more than the 10 Commandments in the interview. Give it a listen.

Don’t know how to post it, but under the comments on the YouTube is the time stamp of topics. Far reaching interview. Worth the listen.

Sure, what’s a summary of the interview? Sorry but I doubt many will watch a 2.5 hour YouTube video.

I didn't listen to the interview but asked Grok for a summary. Slocala can confirm the accuracy:

In the July 18, 2025, episode of The Joe Rogan Experience (#2352), Joe Rogan interviewed Texas State Representative James Talarico, a 36-year-old Democrat known for his progressive views, Christian faith, and viral social media presence. The nearly three-hour conversation covered a range of topics, including politics, religion, and engaging young voters. Here’s a summary of key points:
    • Voter Suppression and Young Voters: Talarico criticized GOP-backed voting laws in Texas, describing them as voter suppression that disproportionately affects young people. He urged Republicans to compete for young voters’ support rather than restricting their access, noting that Donald Trump had tapped into a real sentiment among younger Americans. He argued that competition for voters leads to better public policy.
    • Criticism of Political Leadership: Talarico expressed frustration with former President Joe Biden, stating that Biden’s refusal to step aside for younger leadership stemmed from ego, which he saw as a bigger issue than age.
    • Religion and Politics: The discussion delved into the decline in religious participation, with Talarico attributing it to organized religion’s issues, such as rejecting science, controlling women, and promoting anti-LGBTQ+ sentiments. He emphasized a more inclusive interpretation of Christianity, contrasting it with what he sees as the misuse of religion in politics, particularly “Christian Nationalism.” Rogan praised Talarico’s perspective on this topic.
    • Personal Faith and Public Policy: As a former teacher and aspiring pastor, Talarico spoke about young Americans’ spiritual struggles, noting their desire for a more authentic relationship with faith outside broken institutional structures. He shared how his trust-based relationship with a conservative colleague, James Frank, led him to change his opinion on a policy issue, highlighting the value of bipartisan dialogue.
    • Education and Social Issues: Talarico discussed his opposition to Texas policies like mandating the Ten Commandments in classrooms and private school voucher programs, emphasizing the need for robust public education funding. He also touched on controversial past remarks, such as his 2021 claim that there are “six genders,” framing sex as a spectrum based on biological ambiguity.
    • Rogan’s Endorsement: Toward the end of the interview, Rogan enthusiastically suggested Talarico run for president, calling him “a good person” and expressing a desire for new, principled leadership. Talarico laughed off the idea, focusing instead on his potential Texas Senate run.
    • Broader Political Strategy: Talarico emphasized building a “big tent” for the Democratic Party, advocating for open-mindedness and coalition-building with those who may not fully align on policy. He also discussed the need for Democrats to engage with conservative-leaning audiences, like Rogan’s, to reach disaffected voters, particularly young men.
The interview was widely shared on social media, with clips highlighting Talarico’s critiques of voter suppression and Christian Nationalism gaining traction among Democratic influencers. Rogan’s openness to Talarico’s ideas, despite his 2024 endorsement of Donald Trump, underscored his skepticism of rigid partisanship and appeal to listeners frustrated with the political system.Talarico’s appearance was seen as a strategic move to boost his profile as a rising Democratic star, especially as he considers a U.S. Senate run in a competitive primary. The conversation was described as calm, rational, and respectful, reflecting both Rogan’s and Talarico’s emphasis on open dialogue.

I like Talarico a lot, and I’m an atheist. I can respect religion and those who follow it when practiced the right way, which he does. Been following him well before he became a household name and I think he could eventually become a powerhouse within the Democratic Party, but unfortunately he’ll be met with the same resistance as anyone else in the party who tries to go against the establishment Democrats who are responsible for our current tanking in popularity due to his progressive views.

It’s been said that if you want to find out who really rules over you, find out whom you’re not allowed to denounce.

Go ahead, I dare anybody to speak ill of Bible Believers.

As expected. Low push back and weak engagement from MAGA here. Why? James is a middle America guy and doesn't fit the “Libby boogie man” scare tactics. However, I am surprised by low engagement from the religious conservative here. He checks a lot of boxes…

“The hottest interview a politician can land these days is, obviously, on Joe Rogan’s podcast. But for James Talarico, it fell in his lap — and couldn’t come at a better time.

The Democratic Texas state representative may not yet be a household name nationally but he is weighing a dark horse bid for the U.S. Senate, and the appearance on Rogan’s showreleased Friday can only boost his cred as a rising star for a party desperate to connect with young men and other disaffected voters. At one point, Rogan told him, “James Talarico, you need to run for president.”

Didn't listen to the interview (I usually don't start paying attention to election cycles until about 6mo beforehand), but it's very simple to me. If he's a middle of the road, reasonable guy willing to reach across the aisle to have a constructive discussion I'd certainly entertain voting for him. If he's more of the same bombastic hyperbole where disagreement equals hatred and the spewing of rhetorical bile, then I'll keep voting for none of the above and planning for my post-retirement expatriation.
