(VB) Ongoing Volleyball Thread 2025

If memory serves, she is scheduled to arrive in Gainesville on July 17.

 

It looks like Lily is the only libero/DS on the final 12 of the US U19 team. I’m thinking that suggests she must be pretty consistently good.

 

I was relieved to see this! I watched their 1st match, Hayes played really well.

Hayes made some excellent plays against Peru as well (a 3-0 win). I think she’s going to be good.

I’m looking forward and optimistically to the upcoming initial Volleyball season under CRT. It is 41 days until the first serve vs Stanford in Lincoln, NE on August 22 @ 9PM on FOX sports. GO Gators!

 

Lily is a star.The videos from U-19 are amazing.

 

I just watched the last set as U.S.A. defeated Poland 3-0.

I thought Hayes demonstrated both excellent anticipation and excellent reaction to the ball. More importantly to me, she was clearly the team leader on the floor. And her teammates responded well to her leadership.

I'm really looking forward to seeing her play for the O&B.

Not a knock on CMW at all as she is a HOF coach IMO, but I'm looking in anticipation to observe any changes that may take place. I will defer to the experts on the board to point out any, even subtle changes.

This says first & second rounds 12/4-12/6, regionals 12/11-12/14, final four 12/18, 12/21.
Looks like just different terminology.

 

Today is the last day to renew volleyball season tickets. Just renewed mine.

 

Does anyone see any resemblance from the current roster to the 2017 National Championship roster?

Setters: Huskey, Monserez — Stucky, Parks
MBs: Alhassan, Kramer — Auguste, Rothe
Opp: Joseph — Byrd
Lib: Knop — Canaan
DS: Gregory — Hayes
OH: Snyder (6ro), Sokolowski/Hammons — Hutson (6ro), Madkin/Harden

Outsides might be interchangeable especially with the incoming Serbian freshman. Definitely some literal and figurative similarities between both rosters. They won’t run a two setter offense, but maybe Mary Wise was trying to replicate a roster as best she could to the closest she’s ever came to a national championship?

 

Seems like she would have stayed one more year if she felt this group could do it. Then again, sometimes you just tired.

She feels this group can do it.
Her leaving had nothing to do with volleyball and everything to do with her family.
This is a young team. Keep the faith with them and our new coach. He wants nothing less than a national championship.

 

Katie Schumacher-Cawley becoming the 1st female coach to win the NCAA Volleyball Championship also played a part. Hope CMW is enjoying her retirement.

 

Ok, so we're definitely going to Kansas City. Who's in? There's a few local breweries close to the stadium.
