Welfare queen musk is at it again … this time filing his $9 billion dollar business as a “small disadvantaged business”. People who file as a small disadvantaged business can get preferential treatment on federal contacts, but must be “socially disadvantaged and economically disadvantaged.” … Musk is the richest guy in the world. “Neuralink’s filing, dated April 24, would have reached the SBA at a time when Musk was leading the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency. At DOGE, Musk worked to slash the size of federal agencies. According to the SBA’s website, a designation of SDB means a company is at least 51% owned and controlled by one or more “disadvantaged” persons who must be “socially disadvantaged and economically disadvantaged.” An SDB designation can also help a business “gain preferential access to federal procurement opportunities,” the SBA website says. “ Elon Musk's Neuralink filed as 'disadvantaged business' before being valued at $9 billion
Going out on a limb here, but this won't matter. After all, we've got a criminal leading the country, and our Department of Justice is fully instructed to operate solely to enable his vendettas and criminal activity.
So then who would be the “economically disadvantaged” fella that holds the other $4.5 billion worth of this small business? Any guesses on who that struggling entrepreneur might be?
The person/people who own 51% of the company don’t necessarily need to own 51% of the value. They just need to fall into the category of economically disadvantaged. It’s a loophole that hasn’t been closed so people take advantage of it all the time. This one just gets press because Musk is a minority owner.
Who is “economically disadvantaged”? It’s not a publicly traded company. So the ownership is basically Musk and a bunch of venture capital firms. Strong smell of bs with your explanation.
I’ve never looked into “the rules” of disadvantage small business. But the idea of this company being disadvantaged obviously does not pass any level of smell test. Your claim is that this is a “loophole”, so at best even if we accept your take that “it happens all the time” just means some lawyers found a loophole to loot a little extra $$$ from govt for something other than it’s stated purpose.
So my question more comes to how a $9 billion valued company qualifies for anything small business. LOL! Loophole that needs to be closed…
