No, it's not crazy at all. They just realized that they were causing the loss of literally hundreds of thousands, or millions, of lives by cutting the PEPFAR spending, so they at least wanted to do this.

They also probably realized that Trump and rich people just got $4 trillion in deficit funded tax cuts, so why not spend less than half a billion to save human lives ...

This can be passed in the Senate with a simple majority and cannot be filibustered if passed and signed by Trump by Friday..

What a disaster yet they voted for it anyway

“The rescissions package has a big problem – nobody really knows what program reductions are in it,” Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Susan Collins (R-Maine) said in a statement late Tuesday after voting against advancing the plan. “That isn’t because we haven’t had time to review the bill. Instead, the problem is that [the Office of Management and Budget] has never provided the details that would normally be part of this process.”

nit that I trust anything Susan Collins has to say, it sounds like a typical bill - it gets passed with no real knowledge of the unintended consequences or what got slipped in the back door

“Conservatives, particularly, I find it remarkable just how open we are to not demanding the details before we vote,” Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), who voted to advance the package, told reporters Wednesday.
