Yes, he would have. Look at the reason for the stop in the first place.

He stopped after the mark on the ground for the stop sign and got a running a stop sign ticket. If he had just been polite, he may not be in so much trouble.

Quick question, do you think that YOU would have gotten a ticket for the same thing?

It depends. When i did smoke weed regularly thirty years ago, i was caught by cops three different times and never got even a ticket. Granted, twice were in California which at the time wss only a $75 ticket and once in Florida when a cop walked up on us and didnt care. No gunof course and definitely not rude to any of the cops. Yes sir is the only word choice available. Cops have a choice how a trafic stop goes down and ya never know what the cops outlook is on things. They are not all the dame. Be a smartass and your fate is sealed.
A yes sir and maybe your car is never seatched.

Stopping “past the stop bar” means his front bumper was sitting on or over the white line on the road.
I was guilty of this egregious crime one night in Waldo coming home from a basketball game in Gainesville.
The intersection where Waldo Road feeds into 301 has a stop sign and painted stop bar - which are set far back from the point of entering 301 so that you cannot see if any cars are coming from your left unless you stop over the stop bar.
Being that it was after 11 PM and pretty much deserted, the front of my car stopped on or over the stop bar.
Waldo cop hiding back at the side of the gas station on your right pulled out and nabbed me:rolleyes:
(Any Jacksonville Gator fan who has been through there long ago, knows about the Waldo Police – and that their police department was dismantled due to their ticketing and speed trap tactics)
Was I guilty? The ticket said I “ran a stop sign”

this is what you do when you're impaired

To me, the stop bar is more of guidance, I stop past/on it on a regular basis. In some/many locations, you can't see the oncoming traffic from the stop bar/sign.

Nope, never been pulled over for that one (see above).

Born and raised in Jax in 60's and 70's so drove thru there umpteen times. Don't remember ever getting a ticket but the memory is getting kinda weak nowadays  and of course I already knew about their tactics before I started driving.

Im sure you remember on the ol driving test where you stop before the line, then move up to the intersection until you are able to see. Those Waldo guys just moved it back a bit and sit and wait. You do it properly once in your life to get a license. Now, if you have weed and a gun, you might wanna do it properly and even put your blinker on 100 ft before you change lanes. But never ask why are you messin with me copper.

When I was stationed in NJ (where it’s legal) my apartment would constantly smell like weed because the AC intake vent that drew air in from the outside was right next to my neighbors balcony. I only lasted a one year lease there. I don’t enjoy the smell of it. Probably doesn’t bother people who are benefiting from it.

That wasn’t the question. How do you feel about the legalization of marijuana?

Not sure it matters but probably not any less healthy for ya than alcohol or cigs/cigars. Or processed sugar FTM.

Sounds to me like he’s toast as far as playing for us this year. Stupid synthetic shit, coupled with the Glock. We’re constitutional carry, but that goes out the door when a felony is committed. And acting like an asshole to the cop was stupid — costly lesson in life. Chickenshit reason for pulling them over….

    Damn what a shame

It's a shaky pretext for the stop and a dubious probable cause on top of an over charge on the gun that will be tossed. I would be shocked and frankly dismayed at our legal system if this ends up with more than a wrist slap.

Thats how it should go down as the intent of the law about a gun while committing a felony is not for this type of case . He should have about a million hours of class to teach him some self awareness and manners. If he doesn't agree, he needs some more classes after that.
