When I read their synopsis of "electronic elements" meets "jam band" I was expecting a lot worse. For the most part it seemed like music you'd put on for ambiance or something.
Yeah, I totally don't get the U2 blowback. Baffling. I love the fact that they're still together. ACDC (sans Malcolm, RIP), Stones (minus Watts), Springsteen n E St (minus Clemens)... Aerosmith, ZZ Top (minus Rocky Hill), the Who... very few bands stick together for as long as U2 has. ...and i love me some Edge. Bono's vocals might fuel the songs, but the Edge's guitar grounds the music, and give it their industrial feel. Funny thing--one of my kids is a big U2 fan--whats funny, is that while we both like U2, our tastes in U2 songs differ vastly. He favors the hits that Bono powers; i much prefer the songs (mostly not hits) where Edge's guitar features more prominently, and gives the song its feel.
^^^side note/PS: (can't tell him or any of my kids this, and when I told my wife, it effectively killed it for me, as my wife refused to share the soundtrack with other women, but....): Joshua Tree is the best CD to have sex to. Don't take my word for it--put it the test.
Its all fun and games until you finish and your lady starts belting out "I still havent found what I'm looking for"
