The EU and Mexico criticise Donald Trump for proposed 30% tariff - BBC News The European Union (EU) and Mexico have expressed disappointment at US President Donald Trump's threat to impose 30% tariffs on their imports from 1 August. Mexico criticised what it called Trump's "unfair deal" and insisted its sovereignty is non-negotiable, while the EU's chief, Ursula von der Leyen threatened to take "proportionate countermeasures", if needed. Both said they want to keep negotiating with the US. Trump has warned he would impose even higher import taxes if either of the US trading partners decided to retaliate. —————————————————— but but but he was just backing down wasn’t he? Aw, guess not. President Trump gettin’ shit right. Told y’all he wasn’t done.
How long do you think it's going to be before Trump delays implementation of the tariffs or significantly reduces them or both? Also keep in mind that during his first Administration Trump negotiated the USMCA which described as one of the greatest trade agreements in history. Now Trump 47 is tearing up the agreement negotiated by Trump 45. Trump on the USMCA Donald Trump says new trade deal is 'most important ever'
So you're saying that it's possible to draw a conclusion and project forward based on a single month. How about this from 2022? U.S. Treasury reports record budget surplus in April as revenues soar Updated May 11, 2022
Exactly. Value added taxes, sales taxes and tariffs all have one characteristic in common. They're regressive taxes paid by consumers. Donald Trump is the reverse Robin Hood, he takes from the poor and middle class and gives to the rich adding that he has the most important gift of a great con man, his marks have no idea that they're victims of a grift.
Yup, 80% of Walmart non-food merchandise is imported... I bet a lot of MAGA shops there ... probably think it's Biden's fault...
Over and under on what year the majority of the American public realize that the media has just been the DNC misleading them the entire time?
And yet not a single outlet considered part of the "mainstream liberal media" has agreed to settle a defamation lawsuit in an amount anywhere close to $787 million. I guess you can point to the $16 million settlement by CBS/Paramount in Trump's lawsuit involving the editing of the 60 Minutes interview of Kamala Harris although that settlement would have probably never happened were it not for Trump's implicit threat to use his DOJ to stop or impede the Skydance-Paramount merger.
I don't think they know what that word means. We should put those sanctions on them just for letting millions of criminals from all over the world pass though their country on the way to the U.S.A. They helped those criminals get to the U.S. That is aiding and abetting criminals. I'd also add a 50% tax on money going back to Mexico, money made here illegally.
How is what I wrote spin? Do you not understand that the new taxes Trump put in place are paid for by American consumers? There is no tariff fairy sprinkling money into the government coffers, if that's how you envision this working...
Do you not understand prices have not increased? You are just regurgitating what you heard on CNN. Please show me some proof what you are saying is accurate. What is really happening is prices have remain the same to stay competitive. Profits for the companies have been reduced as prices were overinflated and Americans were being ripped off. Typical liberals rather send money overseas than keep it in this country. Keep listening to CNN. America last is the democrats motto.
Obviously you don’t keep up with the news. Liberal CNBC: Thus far, tariffs have yet to show up in most inflation readings. The consumer price index rose just 0.1% in May, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, though the annual inflation rate of 2.4% remains above the Fed's 2% goal. Inflation expectations drift back down to pre-tariff levels, New York Fed survey shows
Maybe consumer expectations have changed because Trump keeps backing off full implementation of the tariffs.
