Shocking, I tell you! It's like adultery is a requirement for MAGA leadership. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/10/us/ken-paxton-wife-divorce.html?smid=nytcore-android-share State Senator Angela Paxton of Texas, the wife of the state attorney general, Ken Paxton, announced on Thursday that she had filed for divorce, saying she made her decision “on biblical grounds” and “in light of recent discoveries.” The divorce petition, filed by Ms. Paxton in Collin County on Thursday morning, lists among the grounds for divorce that the “respondent has committed adultery” and that the couple has not lived together “as spouses” since June 2024.
Why are you posting pictures of people that aren't in leadership positions and why does MAGA keep electing people that don't display family values? Are family values no longer important to you?
You mean there are still states where you can divorce someone for adultery? Huh. I thought they had all gone to the “No one’s fault! Shell over half your money!” model.
Texas is also a no-fault state. She doesn’t need to “prove” anything. She is just being polite by providing context for everyone whose business it isn’t.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the universal understanding of adultery (meaning let's not bring up "open marriages" or other instances of sex outside of marriage that don't involve overt betrayal or deception) bothered and/or bothers the affronted party in a marriage regardless of what their religion is, if they are religious at all, and even before there was such a thing as the Bible. I'm not a scholar on Texas divorce laws, but if it's a no-fault state, then it's a no-fault state. I seriously doubt there's a special provision for "Biblical grounds."
Yeah, her “biblical grounds” as she called them are superfluous. But she appears to be, or at least wants to be perceived to be, so devoted to the religious aspects of marriage that she is compelled to tell everyone exactly why she is breaking the covenant. She is also an elected politician. So I also imagine there is a whole lot of campaigning going on. Both of them went hard at the religious crowd in competing statements. Hers said the marriage wasn’t honoring God, his thanked God, and even her political group worked in praying in a show of support. Their bases are undoubtedly super religious, so they are all in on that part.
From what I can tell, there is an option in Texas to either seek a fault divorce or a no fault divorce, and adultery is one of the bases for a fault divorce. Fault vs. No-Fault Divorce in Texas: What You Need to Know in 2025 If you’re considering divorce in 2025, it’s important to understand your legal options. In Texas, you can file for no-fault divorce or fault-based divorce—and knowing the difference can impact your case, especially in matters of child custody, spousal support, and division of property.
I was going to add that in MAGA land, an accusation of adultery appears to be a feature rather than a bug unless the adulterer is a Democrat.
Lol... every time Jo, sees that man's pic he can't help but sing, "...there goes my hero watch him as he goes..."
