It’s even more embarrassing when they don’t know the history of Liberia and it’s connection to the US.

    Just guessing, but:

I doubt Boakai grew up speaking English. If I had an even money bet on it I would say it is not his first language. He probably learned English in school. At what age, who knows? Boakai's ethnicity is Kissi and the language he grew up speaking was probably Kissi.

Many Liberians don't speak English, especially when they come from remote areas like Boakai

Boakai went to primary school in Sierra Leone where Krio/English-based creole is the most common language

Next door to Liberia is Ivory Coast, a country with a much higher standard of living. In Liberia they explain this economic disparity by pointing out that Ivory Coast had the benefit of being colonized by the French

    Class dismissed

What's the Democrats excuse for believing for four years he was competent?

Probably the same as Republicans voting for Trump. It seems at least Biden can say he was cognitively impaired. If this is Trump at his best ... oof.

And then there were voters who thought that this guy was competent.

I had no idea, nor could I care a less, that English is the official language of Liberia.

Maybe it is just the Liberians thanking us for the $2B (yes, billion) in aid we have sent to them since the end of their civil wars?

At least you are honest I'd be willing to bet that at least 2 of the 3 posters ahead of you didn't know either.

OK, now that we know some of you don't know that Liberia was founded by Americans ... can we agree that before he meets with the leader of a foreign country, the president of the United States should at least have some idea about where and what the country is?

well, I guess we should be happy he didn't ambush the guy with a bunch of phony videos to claim genocide. He just sounded incredibly ignorant.

You could guess French or English and be right about one of the official languages in much of Africa

Seems there is no limit to the embarrassing buffoonery that Maga accepts. I'm certain when dear leader called the Japanese Prime Minister "Mr Japan" it had an endearing effect on the Prime Minister. SMH

I know you are joking, but Liberia is one of the rare West African countries where I don't think there are indigenous languages widely spoken, given the country's origins. There are like over 500 languages spoken in Nigeria!

We're not quite "untied," yet, but there's no doubt some states are unravelling. :)
