Stars are important. Napier has put together a good team that can get an upset here and there but we are a long way from the top echelon of college football. Vegas still has us likely to win 6-7 games and it’s usually not far off. I agree we are better than when he arrived but we were in pretty bad shape at that time. I keep hearing many preach patience but an expected win total of 6.5 in year 4 can make one start scratching one’s head.
It was 4.5 last season. So two better = 10 this season. If something like that happens maybe we close super well. Napier just has to get his sheet together and really want to win. That mumbly lackadaisical sideline demeanor is unimpressive. Get fired up!!!
You could add two games to that win total with most other teams schedule. Indiana was ranked 5 was it? We have a tough toad to hoe.
FWIW, I hope they are way off and we win 11 or 12! I would love to see an SEC championship. I’m just frustrated with our lack of recruiting success given our great advantages. I feel like we have so much to offer and we should always be in the top 5 like UGA.
If we dont have $50 million to offer recruits we dont have great advantages. What used to matter to kids and their parents doesn't now.
According to this article UGA spent 18.3 and we spent 15.8 in 2025 NIL on football. That’s not much of a difference overall. https://247sports.com/longformartic...es-nations-top-25-spenders-241949240/#2564348
What has UGA accomplished in the last 6 years vs. what we have? That’s your answer. And a $3m separation in spending can make the difference in 3 five star players. On top of the 14 five star players you already have on the roster. We are behind.
You are overlooking that Georgia in previous years was leaps and bounds ahead of the other top 10 in recruiting. This year there will be less difference between them and most top 12 teams. They have dropped because parity is happening with money, not facilities, location to hot recruiting areas, better academics, and best places to live.
Everyone wants to examine this game under the lens of very narrow time windows and whom is successful NOW. Did you folks forget we dominated UGA for 20 years? I understand the anxiety and I am not stupid, UF has fallen off a cliff since 2008. Nary a glance at a National Title game or playoff spot and the best performance since 08 were a few East championships only to get pounded by Bama in the SECCG. No matter what anyone says or posts, this game is cyclical. Even Bama, has it's down turns, and they are as close to a dynastic team the SEC has to offer. Same applies everywhere else. I would put Ohio State in the conversation with Bama in terms of being good in the long haul but numerous (former) powerhouse programs have not exactly been wracking up rings - Miami, FSU, USC, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Penn State, Texas, etc. etc. etc. As disgusting as it is to admit about UGA, Kirby turned it around for them, prior to his arrival they were good but on a 40 year title (drought), a period UF racked up three. Clemson had a nice streak but Dabo's program has slipped back, although they are rumored to be pretty good this year. UF got spoiled under Meyer and after 08 has been on the outside, sometimes far outside, looking in. I think the powers at be deceived themselves by thinking: The state is ALWAYS loaded with talent, we just need to hire the right coach. All the while losing the facilities arm's race, the financial commitment, and sadly, not having a CLUE how to "manipulate" the rules when it came to recruiting. UF AND Miami AND FSU LOST it's mojo recruiting in this state, for the last 15 years we have seen nothing but an exodus of the top kids LEAVING the state to the likes of OSU, Clemson, Bama, Uga etc. etc. While I have no DIRECT evidence, I do know this - Ohio, Alabama, Georgia - Those states PAY H.S. football coaches and build good facilities. Florida? A H.S. coach in Florida needs a beggars can and a guitar to play on an interstate exit to make a living, because coaching pays NOTHING. And to get to my point, I have NO DOUBT that the Ohio State's, Alabama's and UGA's of the world were slipping wads of Benjamin's to Florida H.S. coaches with promising talent to get the "lean" going their way. UF / Miami / FSU got "schooled" on this game for 10 years before they even caught on.
Any article (particularly one from a recruiting service site) that indicates that they know what each University spent on NIL is a work of pure fiction. None of the entities providing NIL are public and I guarantee they don't release their records. These figures are coming from agents and it's not hard to guess what their incentives are.
E-X-A-C-T-L-Y! One thing you can take to the BANK - Cheaters are going to CHEAT. And given the NCAA is now a defunct lame duck, and the current unregulated and constantly evolving conditions that rule the College framework, it's Yippe-Ki-Yay for the cheaters now. $21.5 million per program? I laugh my you know what off........
That’s just what the schools have limited themselves to spending directly. That does nothing to slow the flow of third party money. What is it that are you calling cheating?
