I'd say the worst political advice in US history was probably "Why dont you relax a bit and see a play tonight at Ford's Theater?"

I'm assuming you're talking about the CBO's legislative scoring.

"Dynamic point of view" is a (not really) clever turn of phrase to convince yourself that an alternate reality is real .... specifically, that deficit-funded tax cuts will dynamically produce revenue gains. But we've seen that false logic to be untrue time and time again by now - Trump actually pulled his "blow up the deficit to give himself a tax cut" twice now. And you still believe his lies! :)

Serious question; will you go through your entire life thinking that that lie is true? Haven't gotten enough data points on it yet? Because by now, it's like still claiming that fire isn't hot. :)

Not defending Clinton's personal morality or more specifically the lack thereof although I would point out that Democrats never claimed to be the party of family values or Christian biblical morality, that distinction belongs to party represented by Donald Trump. Interestingly when Clinton was in the White House Franklin Graham and Jerry Falwell both said that the personal morality of the president mattered. When they both endorsed Trump the first time he ran they sang a different tune.

Again...no one commented on anyone's morality. Take that up with someone who thinks politicians are even capable of morality.

My comment was directed at Doh! Biden's legacy. His track record. Sucking out loud, and taking his whole damn party down with him.

One of Barry's few points he got right:

"Never underestimate [Doh! Biden's] ability to [m]uck things up."

That was after what they saw most major outlets did to very respectable nominees like McCain and Romney. Obama Campaign accused Romney of killing people during his time at Bain Capital. The NYTimes tried to sink the McCain campaign by accusing him of having an affair shortly after he clinched the nomination.

True, if he had kept it to one term and allowed a primary to take place, it's extremely likely that Kamela would never have even sniffed the nomination. And at that point, who knows what would have happened in the general.

Or at the very least, she could have had a robust campaign, with her individualized take on the office as opposed to being effectively shuttered and muzzled with the hope that running against Trump would be enough. At least then Americans could have been informed of her ideas and solutions, alongside other candidates. But Americans were cheated out of the primary and Trump waltzed (pun intended) into office.

McCain's biggest problem in 2008 was that he represented the party that a lot of voters considered responsible for 2008 collapse of the economy. I don't recall the NY Times accusing McCain of having an affair although I do recall during the 2000 Republican primary campaign supporters of George W. Bush pushed a narrative suggesting that McCain fathered a black child of out of wedlock apparently based the adoption by McCains of a young girl from Bangladesh who had a dark complexion. I do recall that some supporters of Obama did push the false narrative that a woman died because a company acquired by Bain Capital dropped her health insurance although I don't think that made any difference in the end.

    Dynamic scoring...

The CBO gave the economy (without the BBB even in the picture) a 1.8% annual GDP growth projection, and after/with the BBB they gave the economy a 1.8% GDP projection in growth. See anything interesting in their static scoring? Sounds like STATIC NOISE TO ME.

In the last 30 years we've beaten 1.8% GDP growth, on average. The CBO is off their meds. ;)

I'm basing it on her performance in the 2020 primary (she might have been one of the first ones out). I just don't think she was liked very much in general (even among democrats) and it didn't have much to do with her ideas and solutions.

The "dynamic scoring" pushed by Republicans is pure (insert term for the excrement of male bovines). Every time Republicans have pushed large tax cuts focused on the wealthy going back to Reagan in 1981, George W. Bush in 2001 and 2003, and Trump in his first term in 2017 (effective 2018) they claimed that despite the tax cuts revenue would increase to the point that deficits would decrease. After everyone of those tax cuts the deficit increased. Note the last Trump tax cut.

I agree that McCain's fate was sealed on the '08 economy but Republicans were extremely upset that the NYTimes published this article just when McCain had won the nomination. They were clearly sitting on it in the event McCain won and it would have killed his campaign if it had been true. This made Republicans believe that it did not matter if they nominated a centrist Republican, they were still going to be attacked by the media. Here is the article:
    https://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/21/...6400&en=d0734db651c10475&ei=5087 &oref=slogin

The character assassination of Romney played a big role in the 2012 election. Obama was not extremely popular by '12 and he and his campaign made the decision that they had to define Romney early since he was not well known to the public and they could define him as a soulless Investment Banker, just after we went through the Great Recession. And most of the major media outlets went along with them on that strategy.

This is the issue with Trump being in charge of the Republican Party, there is no party interested in fiscal responsibility any more. Democrats were always the party that wanted to "invest" in America by raising taxes to support more government spending. The Republican Party was the party that believed the private sector was much better equipped to handle the efficient allocation of capital than committees of politicians. The only reason the budget deficit went down during Obama's term was because the Republicans took the House in '10 and the Senate in '14. Now Trump is all about spending more money for the things he likes and has no interest in fiscal responsibility and actively goes after Republicans that try and get in his way on this. So no party is actually interested in fiscal responsibility and the country is going to suffer for it.

    Got a link?

I've seen a lot of different post-Deficit Tax Bill growth forecasts at this point, so I don't have them all remembered to the last detail. Obviously the growth forecasts will differ by year.

But I'm sure you have this info readily available to share? Thanks in advance.

Fox Business News had an expert on there explaining it... forgot his name, but he's on the short list to preplace Powell.

And what’s worse, there is no planned investment strategy for our Country here. There’s no investment in infrastructure, in future energy sectors, and there’s a COMPLETE DIVESTITURE of investment in education. The budget makes no sense from the perspective of fiscal responsibility OR investment.
