What a difference a party makes. Shame on you, President Trump. "President Donald Trump signed “a major disaster declaration” for Kerr County, Texas, to ensure that first responders have every resource they need amid the ongoing search and rescue effort, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said during a press briefing Monday." “The entire Trump administration is working hand in glove to provide every assistance available,” Leavitt said. "As fires burned in Los Angeles this year — in what was possibly the most extensive and expensive natural disaster in U.S. history — President Donald Trump made a stunning statement: he said he would not allow disaster aid to flow unless California enacted voter ID laws, a condition completely unrelated to rebuilding." SHAME!! Playing politics when faced with catastrophic events is shameful!
So if you take pride in pissing off everyone, then what's your problem with what I'm posting? The board thinks you have terrible takes, too...
Staff ... LOL. Good find. So now we at least know they let minorities clean up after their kids. Seriously interested in seeing if there anything to this, though. Every description of the camp in the press is like "generational attendance by tight knit families of Texas elites" ... so yeah ... white people.
I didnt say I was proud, and I'm not seeking it. Just natural when you think both sides suck. Regardless, I've been very patient. Knock of the Christian bashing. From this point forward any group insult will be deleted.
So you think a "white" camp employs blacks and hispanics to be counseling the white girls?(Hint, i was reading that most of them are former campers. Imagine that. ) Another terrible gross take by.
Even slave masters let some of them work in the house ... all I said is that their website montage and other photos I've googled show ZERO black kids, which seems weird ... if you can find some, though, post it, and I'll change my mind.
I just really hope something changes after this tragedy so that it’s less likely to happen, whether on local state or national level. At a minimum the county should adopt the warning system they decided against. I’d hate this to be like other tragedies (eg mass shootings) where no policies or laws change.
Here is an example.... you can scroll through hundreds of photos, but I'll cut to the chase, it looks like that Trump intern group photo from 2017, but somehow even less diverse... they must not have let the black people even work there that day... gross. 2022 Camp Mystic Alumni Reunion - Google Photos
And ugly thing for her to say and I'm glad the mayor and others are blasting her for it. But let's face it, we've had plenty "if the victims were white, it wouldn't get this much attention" comments here.
Excellent moderator. Dont always agree with your takes but they are almost always reasoned. I dont agree with the comparison you used for this situation and im surprised you made it. Certainly not wrong stating what you said happens however the woman in this case and the pediatrician fired for her comments are beyond claiming the attention given is different due to demographics as these women laid blame and even condemned rescue efforts. We Certainly have some ugly commentary here but these women were pretty abhorrent.
Who wants to tell him that the first all black girls camp in America is also in Texas, or that many black only camps exist in Texas? Those camps actually market their lack of diversity. Camp Mystic does not.
LOL so no policies or laws changed due to mass shootings? About 90% of high schools have security guards. There were no security guards when I or my children were in school. Must I go on?
Not that I want to get involved in this argument, but I'm pretty sure a camp that opened in 1926 in Texas probably doesn't need to market its lack of diversity, probably doesn't market much at all TBH - its just "tradition." Some things never change. Reminds me of when I lived in Tennessee, not many black or brown people at those suburban churches. Desegregation didn't change much when it comes to private institutions or well-off white people sheltering their kids. I'm guessing for most of its existence that place was "whites only" for real.
I didn't see where the Houston woman condemned rescue efforts or said the children shouldn't be rescued. She was saying that if it were Hispanic kids, it wouldn't be getting this much attention, right? The pediatrician threw it a bit of both. Saying she hoped they were safe, but 'may you get what you voted for" was pretty gross. To be clear, I don't like either comment and have no problem with them paying the price that they have.
I didn’t say NO mass shootings lead to change (Stoneman Douglas and Uvalde come to mind on state and national level), but the vast majority of them do not result in a law or policy which addresses the tragedy.
Texas elite huh? I guess several families here in Birmingham kind of blows huge holes in your racist tantrum. I really think you are laughing on the other side just trying to troll us. If you are, it might be a good time to dial it back. You aren't making any friends here and it's been a very long time since we've had this from anyone.
