It would help in spreading the talent at the top among a bunch of schools, so no one is dominant ala Georgia and Bama in the past decade.
If you are familiar with the name T Boone Pickens , a successful oil man who poured millions into Okie State. Did not ever result in titles. Aggies were going to buy a title with Jimbo, nah. I doubt we will ever see a Saban like run again.
I doubt it either because everyone is paying and the big boys cant fired back with sanctions . It does seem we will see the final four teams have a very limited pool though. So far, it still looks to be more top heavy than any time barring the last two decades.
We know how OSU built their roster and it led to a title. But Michigan, who won the year prior, isn’t really regarded among the elite when it comes to recruiting. They just did a great job holding onto to players and having stability within the program.
So you say theres a chance. Yes they are the one outlier and hopefully theres more like that in the future but it doesnt look likely. The big difference is depth as the depth of a handful have become starters for the second tier.
It could happen for us too. We have a potentially great qb and a ton of guys that could be day one picks. Crossing my fingers.
