Babe Ruth autograph story. My step-grandfather owned a bar in Chicago south of the Loop that was a sports bar in the old sense. It was the bar where pros went to drink not where sports fans went to watch a game. It predated TV. Often they would trade stuff for drinks because back in those days they weren't making millions of $'s per season. Good stuff at the end of the season were traded! In my grandmother's attic was a trunk full of things like game worn woolen Blackhawk jerseys from the 1930's and 40's and baseball stuff like bats and game worn jerseys. But the one thing not in her trunk was the autographed Babe Ruth picture that used to hang in Grandpa Bob's tavern. My mom thought that I had it but nobody knows where it went to and nobody knows what happened to that trunk of vintage sports memorabilia. A bigger waste than my mom throwing out my baseball card collection with many early Mantle cards and Clemente's rookie card. And my Sandy Koufax autographed scorecard that he signed for me personally. That I miss the most and not for dollar value. It's personal and means more than buying one. I was a kid in the presence of greatness aspiring to be a pitcher. I threw from the right side with a 3/4 arm slot so not a guy I modeled myself after but I was in awe of how good he was. There is only thing I got from my grandmother's attic that I found when I was a kid and still have it. An 1873 half dollar that had fallen in a crack.
I cant find the video now,, but this guy in a Summer Ball game was runner on 2b(1st & 2nd, less than 2 outs).. Hard hit grounder hit right at him & SS. He fields ball tosses it to ump to avoid the DP lol
I think this is it. It’s pretty funny, but a bunch of people are noting that if the runner intentionally interferes with the ball, the batter should also be called out.
