ICE increasingly targets undocumented migrants with no criminal record The Trump administration is increasingly targeting unauthorized immigrants with no criminal record as it ramps up arrests, a Washington Post analysis of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement data shows. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi L. Noem often touts that ICE officers are arresting the “worst of the worst.” But more than half of those removed from the country since Jan. 20 do not have a criminal conviction. What’s more, as arrests increase, the share of detained migrants with a criminal conviction has been dropping. It shouldn't be all that surprising. When he ran the first time focusing on Mexico at the time Trump floated the narrative that Mexico "was sending" criminals to the US. He is floating a similar narrative now focusing on Venezuela along with the implying that a significant percentage of undocumented immigrants are violent criminals and that ICE is targeting those illegals. The reality is that immigrants both legal and undocumented are less likely to commit violent crimes than US citizens by birth and that in order to achieve his deportation goal iCE will be detaining more and more noncriminal immigrants. This graph says it all the percentage of noncriminal aliens will be increasing over time. It also wouldn't surprise if some of the noncriminal aliens end up at "Alligator Alcatraz" and will certainly end up at the newly opened or expanded private facilities. The proportion of detainees with a criminal conviction has fallen in recent months, the data shows. In January, nearly 46 percent of those detained had been convicted of a crime. By June, that number had dropped to 30 percent.
According to one commentator the ICE budget under the "Big Beautiful Bill" is larger than the military budgets of a number of countries. The ICE budget will also be larger than that of any other federal law enforcement agency including the FBI and the DEA and will end up funding more ICE agents than agents or officers in any other federal law enforcement agency. In essence the Administration had determined that apprehending and deporting undocumented immigrants the majority of whom haven't been convicted of or even charged with crimes should take precedence over the investigation of organized crime, counter-terrorism or drug trafficking.
It's fun to see the performative theater play out. Pretend to get lots of criminals, make a show of getting some others, leave almost the same number of illegal immigrants in the country after four years as there were at the start. Heck, he's already basically admitted as much when he told us farm and hospitality workers could stay. But hey look! So in say 10 months with the huge influx of ICE agents having done God's work , and vast numbers of the immigrants deported thus ending this horrific invasion and making everyone's pets safe once again, will ICE be strolling the streets with like a color wheel of skin tones to abduct people off the street?

If not this, they'll be doing some other pro-Trump activities which will be an abuse of their authority, funding and mandate ..... and will likely be illegal. Trumppublican congressmen and officials won't care - they'll turn a blind eye. MAGA voters won't care either - they have already repeatedly turned a blind eye to Trump's lack of ethics and outright criminality. (Although they might chime in on some other topics n stuff, cuz they do still have a lot personal integrity and the like.)

Well, one area that the FBI investigated is government corruption. And, based on Trump's actions and pardons (as well as Supreme Court rulings), it appears that government corruption has been legalized.
It demonstrates that for the private prison industry donations to the Trump campaign and Republican candidates were a very positive return on investment. It should also be obvious that since the goal of the industry is to maximize profits there is absolutely no incentive for them to provide decent conditions for detainees the majority of which have committed no real crimes.
