Mamdani has suggested free buses in NYC, one grocery store owned by the city in each borough that will be able to offer lower prices to people who can’t afford to shop in the supermarkets there, some form of limited rent control, and the construction by private companies of lower cost housing. Not only is that not communism, but these ideas have been discussed, and, in many cases, have been tried elsewhere in the United States.
