Yet it does not explain the full picture. You could easily claim that Ukraine has no chance against Russia in 2022 because Russia had several times as many tanks as Ukraine, but you'd be wrong. The answer is not always in quantity. Part of the answer is quality, part is quantity, and part is whether this particular asset is of any significant use in a conflict. Maybe China is foolishly making a large number of targets for U.S. carrier-based jets to sink. Maybe China is just trying to impress its potential opponents with quantity and hope they can scare the opponent from responding to a military provocation. You certainly seem scared.

If I want to.

Generals have agendas. They want more spending on weapons. That may be a valid assessment, or it may not. The Ukraine War has proven everyone wrong who thought the side with the most tanks and planes would automatically win the war easily.

I consider a US general to be far more knowledgeable on this subject compared to anyone else outside of the US military with the exception of politicians who have access to classified information on this subject. But that is just my opinion.

China is offended by U.S. medium-range missiles in the Philippines. They are also offended that U.S. troops in the field made some significant improvements to the missile design during testing.

US Army soldiers reworked a new missile system in the field during a deployment that deeply frustrated China

Troops deployed to the Pacific tinkered with and reworked a missile system in the field, showing the value of soldier-driven design input during a deployment that irritated China, a recent report noted.

Soldiers were in the Philippines and working with the US Army's new Mid-Range Capability, or Typhon, missile system.

The Government Accountability Office, a watchdog agency, reported last month on the Army's modernization efforts for its artillery, rocket, and missile systems. Citing conversations with the program's officials, the GAO said that there were "multiple design changes" made "during development based on user input provided during new equipment training and other exercises."

The MRC is one of the Army's newest missile systems. It's a versatile ground-based missile system capable of firing both the Standard Missile 6 (SM-6) and Tomahawk Land Attack Missile and designed to fill a key gap in the US arsenal in terms of range and flexibility. While it wasn't fired during the trainings, its presence angered China, which demanded it be removed.

Interesting article about China's next move. Apparently, China is eyeballing Siberia, and might be more likely to invade there instead of Taiwan. Siberia has gold, gas, oil, rare earth minerals, and fresh water. And nobody likes Russia right now, so who would come to their defense?

China wants to invade Siberia, not Taiwan

China’s threats against Taiwan get a lot of attention. But a far more audacious plan is unfolding in Beijing. Emerging evidence — drawn from internal Chinese deliberations and a leaked Russian intelligence document — suggests that China’s ambitions are pivoting north, to Siberia.

This shift — driven by Chinese resource hunger, geopolitical opportunism and Russia’s weakening grip — could reshape the global order in ways the West has yet to fully grasp. Moreover, the staggering costs of invading Taiwan, and Siberia’s role in fueling China’s economic growth, make the northern pivot increasingly likely by 2027.

A comprehensive 2023 war game conducted by the Center for Strategic and International Studies concluded that a Chinese invasion would likely fail and come at a staggering cost to all parties. The study projects that in a three-week conflict, China would suffer devastating losses, including an estimated 10,000 troops killed and the loss of 155 combat aircraft and 138 major ships.

The economic fallout would be catastrophic. A 2024 analysis by Bloomberg Economics estimated that a war over Taiwan would cost the world approximately $10 trillion, equivalent to 10 percent of global GDP. Taiwan’s dominance in semiconductor production means any disruption would cripple global supply chains, including China’s own tech sector. These prohibitive costs, coupled with the high risk of a broader, protracted conflict with America and its allies, make a near-term invasion of Taiwan increasingly improbable.
