Social security is a progressive system where, all things equal, a lower wage earner’s benefits represent a higher ROI on their deferrals than the ROI experienced by a higher wage earner. Effectively, higher wage earners already subsidize the benefits received by lower wage earners.
Good because Repubs showed be forced to listen to the garbage they came up with. They all know it's crap.
They don't have an excuse after they pass something the balloons the deficit and is completely contradictory to conservative principles (other than tax cuts for the 1%).
Probably not, but maybe a few of them will be exposed to the garbage they are voting for. Either way, it's a good troll.
Trump's Big Beautiful Bill is scheduled to eliminate 42,000 jobs in Georgia. Georgia has become a leader in the manufacture of solar panels and batteries through federal subsidies that were matched by local businessmen, and Trump is about to kill that industry. I posted an article on this on another thread, but my post was deleted, so I assume that this information is considered highly dangerous to the Orange One.
It's still weird that it's called that "BBB" nonsense. This bill is almost entirely about gutting social services in order to pretend to offset the tax cuts, even though the offset is only partial and will still result in $4 trillion of new debt. This should be called the Trump Adding Debt for Tax Cuts Bill.
I say keep doing things that are going to severely negatively affect many people's lives so they can learn the difference between real problems and things like 8 trans athletes in high scool sports.
Frankly, the more I read and learn about this bill, the more surprised I am that normal republicans support it.
I agree that if this power exists, they will use it. There was a time that conservatives stood for upholding tradition over doing whatever it took to make changes immediately, but man have times changed fast.
I saw a quote that said something like I know enough to be wary of any government program that is described as big and beautiful.
Trump gets to name it, because he leads all Republicans. It's Orwellian. Obviously the most important thing to him is getting a personal tax cut. Weird how he's still trying to personally gank wherever he can, whether it's fake American cell phones, crypto or Bibles. Many people that rich would be fighting out how to best give their money away.
Where are there any "normal" Republicans left? There are those who want to keep their lucrative positions in Congress vs.....well, no one.
Musk has been tweeting about this non-stop as well. Of all of the asinine parts of this corruption, driving up costs on Americans in this fashion is absurd. These projects will not stop because they are cheaper, safer and easier to build for power providers. They are just going to get more expensive than planned to build and that cost will be passed along to the consumer.
They're probably banking on typical short voter memories...long way to the midterms. Or maybe they figure historically, pubs will lose control anyway.

With the income cap on contributions, is this actually true? Doesn’t seem particularly progressive with a contribution cap. Remove the cap on money going in, and it becomes more progressive. Not necessarily a bad thing imo. The real flaw in both social security and Medicare is that these programs have people living longer. Up to 15 years longer than when the programs were initiated. The median lifespan was 65. Which meant roughly half of people collected benefits at all (I.e. to the half that died their “ROI” was -100%.). It seems pretty obvious the age needs to be ticked higher by at least a couple of years, pretty crazy not adjust for increased lifespans. Though to put it on parity with when it was conceived the age wouid have to be 75 or 80 and that seems equally ludicrious. Publix would have no use for that increase in the geriatric workforce (nor would any other business). .
