"I’d like the idea of something a Medicaid public option, or maybe something like that, and or maybe something like what you are talking about that anybody would automatically qualify for. Maybe there would be premiums maybe not. At a minimum I think people should be able to at least get similar out of pocket rates as those negotiated by private insurance or maybe even Medicare." Why is there no discussion of expanding Medicare? It's an existing public/private system supported by 1.4% deduction matched by employer that covers about 1/6th of the population (and probably the most expensive 1/6th)? Those are hard numbers that we can extrapolate to get some good estimates of what that 1.4% would need to increase to. My guess? Somewhere around or above 10%. Then just put it to the people. If they want to have an additional 8.6% deducted from their checks, move forward. If they balk, then game over for single payer. My guess is the holdup would be centered around investors in Health Insurance companies and the health-insurance companies themselves, who would see their gross margins crushed (keeping in mind the margins on supplemental would actually be pretty high with the catastrophic losses covered by the SP system). Honest question. Nobody brings this up, just convoluted band-aids to the current system, when it would appear to be the cleanest and clearest path to a SP system and we'd have real numbers - not rhetoric about Stalin, Venezuela, etc. - to debate.
Watching you flop like a fish on a dock has been very entertaining, to say the least. 3.5 more years of "decline" coming Baby! Better tighten that chinstrap!!!! Or get out your pom poms so you can root for your Buddy Pete when he turns troops on "the libs". You know, the day you dream of.
There will be no Dem Civil War. They are all on he same page…anything and everything goes to seize power. It is clear the Dems will do what is seize power… So, do not buy into this myth that there is a Dem civil war on the horizon. Fake myth
