Who would have been chosen by Prager because he fits the narrative Prager wants, in the same way the “experts” that MSNBC and Fox trot out always seem to toe the company line. It’s actually a really interesting discussion if you dig into it, but it’s not really relevant for this thread, so I’ll let it go. The larger points I agree with anyway.
The people obviously value human life (certainly their own), but the current leadership does not. Putin worships Stalin and considers him to be Russia's greatest modern (wartime) leader, and that's why he rehabilitated Stalin's reputation at the start of this invasion. He just didn't realize that the war would take so long and that the sacrifices that Russia would have to make would be so significant for a non-existential war.
Did you actually read beyond the propaganda headline? First, the "Kyiv Independent," lol. But the article infers the Russian ambassador to the U.K. confessed to 'staggering losses,' which is intentionally vague. (could mean 4,000 for all we know). Then article proceeds to not even provide the actual quote the Russian ambassador allegedly spoke. You realize stuff like this undercuts your position even further?
There’s lots of articles out there on the subject. Take your pick. Russia Unwittingly Confirms Ukraine’s Estimates of Russian Casualties in Ukraine But if you’re going to be convinced only a few Russians have died, that they continue to sit this close to decisive victory, that air superiority is a thing of the past just because Russia can’t do it, and so on, then I’m not sure what direct quotations from a Russian ambassador I could provide you that would mean anything to you anyway.
Interestingly, I just heard on cable news that the drone factories in Iran were one of the targets of the strikes there. Wonder what it means for Russia/Ukraine.
Somewhere up thread there was a report of NK contemplating sending 25,000 workers to Russia to build the Shahed drones in Russia.
Unfortunately, Russia is now building most of those drones that Iran had originally provided - or so I have read.
Russia's economy is apparently running out of steam. The end of the Ukraine War is near, and things don't look so good for the Russians. Russia is experiencing a "chronic labor shortage". The article mentions that the war in the middle east is good for Russia, but even with that, they are in a state of "managed decline". Looks like it's time for Russian propagandists to find a new line of work. Russia’s economy boomed after the invasion of Ukraine—it’s now running out of steam
Hope you’re right. Now is the time for the rest of Ukraine’s allies to push for advantage while President Trump is distracted/in a good mood over Iran.
Generally speaking, I hate it when President Trump runs his mouth in a boorish, unstatesmanlike way. Ninety-nine times out of one hundred, it has no place in American politics, certainly not in international affairs. This is the hundredth instance. One thing that has been sorely lacking since the Ukraine War started has been the U.S., when it’s appropriate, matching Russian fecal dialogue, especially when that dum dum Medvedev threatens us with nuclear weapons. A rejoinder like this one is years overdue. I know many of us wish someone other than President Trump was saying this. But it needed to be said. I’m sick of Medvedev running his mouth at us. https://metro.co.uk/2025/06/23/trum...-ever-built-russia-gives-iran-nukes-23487263/
Russia has ramped up missile and drone production. The attacks are more frequent and with more ordnance and targeting civilian areas. Ukraine can't keep up. Russia kills 17, injures scores in one of its deadliest attacks on Ukraine – POLITICO
Zelenskyy & Trump are at least meeting. Although Trump will still be reluctant to stand up to Putin for some reason. “Mr Zelensky and his aides have said they want to talk to Mr Trump about buying USweapons, including Patriot missile defence systems and increasing pressure on Moscow “through tougher sanctions.” Ukraine war live: Trump meets Zelensky as row breaks out over Nato’s stance on Putin
