It has been a whole day since we nationalized something previously private in this country. It seems like it is time.
Tariffs, nationalizing industry, and supporting Russia are the foundation for Trump's GOP. Up is down
Not at all, I don’t consider myself a victim for occasional lurking on this board. I know what the board will bring. Masochist maybe lol
That’s the post I was looking for. Thank you. Now I’ve hit my quota for this board’s ridiculousness for a few days.
So you were upset because the topic hadn't become partisan, so you tried to make it partisan? And then you could complain about it being partisan? Classy stuff.
China can't feed itself so it needs to import a lot of food. If China attacked Taiwan the US would immediately cut food shipments from the West Coast and it wouldn't take long before many Chinese began to starve imo. Much of China's water is polluted as is much of its land. Just another reason why the US needs to keep its population below 300M and not let Democrats pipeline tens of millions of illegals into our country. Protect the environment, vote MAGA
“If the climate warms by 3 degrees, that’s basically like everyone on the planet giving up breakfast,” he said. The world is currently on track for around 3 degrees Celsius of warmingby the end of the century. Poorer parts of the world, where climate conditions are already fairly harsh, tend to be more adapted and better prepared for the impacts of the climate crisis, Hsiang said. Agricultural systems in breadbaskets such as the US and parts of Europe, however, are optimized for the current temperate climate, he said. https://www.cnn.com/2025/06/18/climate/food-crops-heat-rain
The better question is what countries could adequately feed themselves in a short period if forced to.
I scored 45 lbs of blueberries in my back yard this year, from only two bushes. We fed half the neighborhood. Would have been more if we could have kept the birds away.
You do know that the U.S. typically exports about 20% of its agricultural crops, and only imports 15%, don't you? Yes, you can both import and export agricultural products. Some years, the U.S. has a deficit, and some years it doesn't. We are absolutely NOT "far from self-sufficient". Sounds like a MAGA study--mostly imaginary and fact-free. The U.S. imports foods from all over the world because: a) It can afford to. In fact, Americans can afford to buy fruits and vegetables that are out-of-season in the U.S., but not in countries in the southern hemisphere. (This may blow your mind, but it is now "winter" in the southern hemisphere.) b) Americans have an interest in foods grown in warmer climates, like fruits grown in Mexico and Honduras, as well as fruits and vegetables that are very people-intensive in their cultivation (and therefore costly in the U.S.). c) The U.S. also throws away far more food than any other country. We waste about 30-40% of our food. Obviously, we could be much more careful with our food and not waste so much, and we would be more than self-sufficient. If the U.S. stopped importing food, Americans would not starve. Americans would have to learn to eat more seasonal foods than they like, and not import things from the southern hemisphere as much in winter--we might wind up eating frozen fruits and vegetables in winter. Warning: the website below may trigger under-medicated Trump fanatics, as it mentions achievements of the Biden-Harris administration. Please take your medicine before you click on it. https://www.usda.gov/about-usda/new...ances-agricultural-exports-support-us-economy If you want to crap your pants about something, ask yourself what your simple-minded president is doing about the fact that the U.S. will run out of oil in seven years. Does he have any concept of a plan to reduce U.S. oil usage? Or is his plan to have the U.S. become subservient to his master, Vlad Putin, to get oil in the future? Trump's "Drill, Baby, Drill" policy will wind up converting to "Kneel, Baby, Kneel" if you want to continue to use oil.
Maybe the neighbors will give you their blessing to use a cannon to keep the birds away if they want to have more blueberries.
